Two weeks have passed since I moved in Los Angeles.
Now I share the apartment (monthly fee is $850 for one room = $425 per each) with room-mate, who is Japanese guy, whose age is 18. He is well acquainted with movies, which I've not known ever but it is really useful for me. I am sometimes astonished at his knowledge and his passion for the movie.
For example, he went to Westwood to get an autograph of one of his favorite director, and he finally got the one after his very long waiting for 10 hours!! The time he got the autograph was 2:30 am, and he came back at 3:45 am!! When I got the autograph of Nicolas Cage, I just waited for two hours, and if I have to wait for 10 hours, I would probably quit lining such a long line. What I want to say is he is really enthusiastic about movie!
So far, I've never felt generation-gap between me and him. Rather than that, I feel a kind of sympathy. I mean, when we talk about movie we like or hate, or sports, or musician, and so on..., sometimes we point same movie, same sports, same singer, sometimes it can be a "Bay Side Shakedown", sometimes it can be a "soccer", sometimes it can be a Masaharu Fukuyama.

ロスに引っ越してから二週間が過ぎました。
今、18歳の日本人男性とルームメートと一緒にアパート(一部屋が月$850＝一人$425)をシェアしてます。彼はとても映画に詳しくて、自分が今まで知らなかった知識を豊富に持っていて、しかもとても有用な情報ばかりで、その知識と行動力に驚かされることもしばしばあります。
例えば、ウェストウッドという場所まで、彼のお気に入りの監督のサインをもらいに行って、最終的に10時間も並んだみたい。サインをもらった時間が深夜2時半で、帰ってきたのが3時45分!!自分がニコラス・ケイジのサインをもらった時は2時間しか待たなかったのでよかったけど、もし10時間も待たないとしたら、多分並ぶのを止めてたと思います。何が言いたいかというと、彼は映画に対してすごく情熱的だということです。
今までのところ、二人の間にジェネレーション・ギャップを感じたことはありません。むしろ、好きな映画や嫌いな映画、あるいはスポーツ、あるいは歌手などについて話しているときは、「踊る大捜査線」だったり、サッカーだったり、福山雅治だったりと共感することのほうが多いです。
