First, I tried the software "Final Data" which is the best selling software in Japan.
It took 24 hours to read broken hard drive. and it seemed to recover besic files such as "jpg" and "xls", but it couldn't recover most important file that I wanted to recover, editing software's file.

Next, I tried another software that is from USA.
It took only hour to read HD, but it could recover only 20% of editing files. Then I tried another software. I thought if this didn't work well, I would give up.
This software took 2.5 hours that was longer than second one, but it could recover 80% of the files that I wanted to do. So now I'm doing the rest 20%.

So what was Japanese No.1 software? It took 10 times as long as American, and it could recover far less files.
Is this the difference between the country that created computer and the country it didn't?

そこでまず、IBMの友人に教えてもらった、日本で一番売れているという「FinalData」というソフトを使ってみた。
壊れたディスクの読み取りに丸一日24時間かかった。が、jpgやxlsといった基本的なファイルは復旧できそうだった(といっても確率的にはかなり低い)が、肝心の編集ソフトのファイルが復旧できない。

そこで次に姉のだんなさんに教えてもらったアメリカのソフトを使ってみた。
これは読み取りは1時間ちょっとで終わったが、肝心のファイルは2割程度しか復旧できないことがわかったので、次に自分で見つけたソフトをインストールし、3度目のトライ。(正直、これでだめなら、あきらめようと思っていた・・・)。
このソフトは読み取りは2時間半と2つ目のソフトよりも長い時間がかかったが、肝心のファイルの80%くらいが復活！！というわけで、今は残りの20%の編集を行っています。

しかし、日本でシェアNo.1のソフト、いったいなんだったんだろう？読み取り時間は10倍近く余分にかかるくせに、復旧できるファイルはきわめて少ない。
これがコンピュータを生み出した国と、そうでない国の違いなのだろうか？
