トラブル続きのNY -part5- |
The last day in NY, I did my work until noon, and I went to the airport to get on the flight at 17:30. I told my name at the check-in counter but there was no name again just like the flight from LA. After the research, it came out that my flight was yesterday...
I couldn't believe it even though I was exhausted.
Besides, I booked a hotel for 3 nights. So it was already mistake when I booked the flight...
I wonder if I'm a kind of insane? I never made such trivial mistakes before. I think I should take long vacation.
This is a trouble in one-way, however the bigger trouble was about to happen.
I could get a seat anyhow, and there is a notice that the flight will be delay in an hour. They said there was a strom coming.
There was only 1 hour to change airplanes at Milwaukee, so I got panicked a little. But there was no other way to help this situation.
However, it came clear that I don't need to change airplanes because the same airplane goes to LA after the quick stop at Milwaukee. It means it doesn't matter how long it is delayed.
The door was closed and the engine starts. We thought we would departure soon. But the direction from the control tower prevented our departure. The effect of storm made us stay. I had gone to sleep without notice because of exhaustion. 2 hours have passed when I got awake. I thought we already landed at Milwaukee but we were still on the runway at NY.
What's the hell!?
In short, our flight kept waiting for 3 hours on the runway. I traveled a lot, but this was my first time to wait for 3 hours in airplane. (Actually I experienced 6 hours waiting at airport...)
20 minutes later, the airplane departed to the sky with huge cheers and a burst of applause.

NY最終日、昼まで仕事をして、17時半の飛行機に乗るために、空港へ向かう。でもって空港に着き、カウンターで名前を告げるが、行きと同じく、また名前がない。よくよく調べてもらうと、自分が乗るはずだった飛行機はその日ではなく、前日だったと判明・・・
いくら疲れていたとはいえ、そんな間違いは・・・
てか、ホテルは3泊で予約していたんだから、飛行機を予約した時点で間違っているってことだ・・・。
最近、やっぱり疲れてんのかな？昔ならあり得なかった、こういう凡ミスが多い。長期休暇が必要だな、こりゃ。
これもトラブルといえば、トラブルだが、本命はこの後。
いろいろと悪戦苦闘した結果、何とか席を確保。でもって、掲示板を見ると予定より出発時間が1時間遅れるとの通知。聞いてみると、嵐が来てるらしい。
ミルウォーキで乗換時間が1時間しかないのに、これはまずい・・・。とはいえ他に手段はない。
ってことで、飛行機に乗り込むが、よくよく聞いてみると、乗換ではなく、あくまでも経由ということで、いくら出発が遅れようが、関係ないってことで、一安心。
飛行機のドアが閉じ、エンジンがかかり、さぁ出発！と思いきや、管制塔からの指示で、嵐の進路の影響で滑走路で待たされることに・・・。あまりにも疲れていたので、気がつくと寝てしまって、起きたら2時間後。飛行機は既に着陸・・・と思いきや、まだNYの滑走路の上。
嘘だろ！？
要するに滑走路の上で3時間も待たされたことになる。いろんな国を旅してきたが滑走路の上で3時間も待たされたのは初めて。(空港内で6時間というのもあったが・・・)
それから20分後、無事飛行機は空へと旅立ちました。乗客の大歓声と拍手に包まれて・・・。
