One of the national TV drama series with 8 seasons over 32 years finally ended.
Kinpachi-Sensei.
Except season 3, 1 season lasted 6 months (usually Japanese drama lasts 3 months), which can be 15 seasons in usual ways other dramas can be counted. Therefore each student can play the lead role beside main characters.
Most students of 7 seasons (season 3 is not at Sakura Junior High School) appeared for the graduation ceremony of Kinpachi in the special drama onaired this spring. Kinpachi called off each student during the celemony and they showed close-up footage of each student.
This is a big difference compared with other school drama such as "Gokusen" and "GTO." Also I felt like I attended the ceremony because of these close-up footages of almuni who are currently general people, not working in entertainment industry.
First of all, this drama started with the naming of "Kin-Pachi" meaning Friday 8pm. I guess nobody believed this drama would last for 32 years.
And over 32 years this drama brought a lot of stars in its almuni, which made it national TV drama series.
I joined in this series from season 4 and learned many things through this drama. The equation of "rotten orange", the way to handle sinister bullying problem, how to communicate with the people having Gender Identity Disorder, the fear of drugs and the beauty of Chinese characters.
There is one popular letter meaning "human." It is composed of 2 lines symbolizing 2 people supporting each other. Then a human lives among people, which comes to human beings.
There is another letter I remember. It represents "kindness", which is composed of two letters; one is the one represents "human" and another is "worry." In other words, the worrying about people can be KINDNESS. There is lyric in one of the famous song "Okuru Kotoba."
"The more a human experience sorrow, the more a human can be kind to others."
There were a lot of "sorrows" in the drama and also a lot of "kindness" can be found. I'm really sad this drama ended but I'd like to keep telling this kindness to a lot of people.
Kinpachi-sensei, I'd like to say thank you and congratulations on your graduation!!
