アメリカ到着！！ |
It has passed 6days since I arrived at here, U.S.A. I'm staying at home-stay. My host family is consist of 5 member, father & mother & sister & house-mate from Thaiwanee, and dog and they are really friendly to me.
This family has a lot of students ever from foreign countries like me. For example, from Brazil, Thai, Argentina, Italy, Korea, ofcource Japan. So they have a jar & "KOMEBITSU". And I eat rice everyday, so I think I eat much Japanese food than I had in Japan.
I could make some intimate friends here. Two of them are from Korea and another is from Japan. But we made a promise not to speak Japanes between me & him. We're makeing plan for vacation of 4 successive holidays including July 4th(Independence Day!) to go to Las Vegas & Grand Canyon by rent-a-car. I hope we can be good friends.
I'm in UPP(University Preparation Program) after passing class-dividing test and today I had another test of reading and writting to comprehend our skill by teachers. I could do well in reading part easily, but I couldn't do well in writing part. I couldn't finish my report by time-limit.
I was so shocked because we have 8 students in our class and only three are new comer including me (I mean this is second semester or more for the other 5). But one of three is native speaker, so actually only 2 are new comer. Their English is so fast that I can only hear them 80%. I'm so nervous about I can catch up this class.
But my elective class "English through film" was so interesting. Film is one of my most favorite hobby, so I know almost all the film introduced to us and I could understand what the teacher said almost 100% because this class has some lower level student.
Anyway I came here finally, I CAME U.S.A.!!

ここアメリカに到着してから6日が過ぎました。今はホームステイをしていて、ホストファミリーは5人います。父、母、娘、台湾人の同居人、そしてペットの犬の5人(4人と一匹か？)で、みんなとても親切。
今までにもたくさんの外国人留学生を受け入れていて、ブラジル、タイ、アルゼンチン、韓国、そしてもちろん私のように日本からも来ている。そのせいか家には炊飯器と米びつがあり、毎日のように米を食べていて、日本にいた時よりも日本食を食べている気がする。
こっちでとても仲良くなった友人がいて、2人は韓国人で残り1人は日本人だけど、日本語は禁止という約束をした。今その4人で7月4日の独立記念日を含む4連休にレンタカーを借りて、ラスベガスとグランド・キャニオンに行く予定を立てている最中。良い友達になれたらいいなと思う。
授業に関していえば、クラス分けのテストを無事通過し、希望していたUPP(大学進学準備コース)というクラスで、先生たちが生徒のスキルを把握するために、今日リーディングとライティングのテストがあった。リーディングは割りと楽にできたんだけど、ライティングに関しては駄目だった。時間内に書き終えることができなかった・・・。
クラスには8人の生徒がいるんだけど、そのうち今学期から来ているのは自分を含めて3人のみで(残りの5人は春かそれ以前からいる)、しかもそのうちの1人は英語が母国語の人で、新人は2人だけで、めちゃくちゃショックだった。他の人の英語は早くて80%くらいしか聞き取れない。だから、授業についていけるかめちゃくちゃ不安。
しかし選択科目で取った「映画における英語」のクラスはめちゃくちゃ面白かった。映画は自分の趣味のひとつで、授業中に出てきた映画のほとんどすべてを知っていたし、下のレベルの生徒もいるため、先生の言うことは100%理解できた。
何はともあれ、遂にここに来たんだなぁ、アメリカに・・・！！
