About food, starting from Miso-base food such as Miso-boiled Uson, Miso-cutlet, and DOTE-NI, there are many strong taste foods. Strange combination foods are also famous such as Ankake-spaghetti and Tempura rice-ball. The best one is Ogura-margarine. It is absolutely sold in every convenience store in Tokai area. Ogura-margarine is a thin bread with ogura(bean-paste) and margarine as its name indicates. However it is not sold out of Tokai area, and there are some questions "What's that? Is is good?" and I answer "It is sold because it is good!!".
Ogura-margarine and Tempura rice-ball are sold in most convenience stores but it is not sold out of Tokai and it is not known so much. There is one more similar Nagoya specialty. It is not sold in convenience store but it is sold in rest area on highway. It's name is "Gohei-Mochi". It is not born in Nagoya originally, but every Tokai people know it. When these items will be famous in all over Japan?

さて、料理に関しては、味噌煮込みうどん、味噌カツ、どて煮など、味噌ベースのものをはじめ、濃い口のものは確かに多い。変な組み合わせということで言えば、あんかけスパゲティーや天むすなどいろいろあるが、なんと言っても、小倉マーガリンだろうか？東海3県のコンビニでは必ず売っている。細長いパンにマーガリンと小倉をはさんだ定番商品なのだが、東海3県を外れると、まったく売っていないどころか、「何それ？うまいの！？」などという答えが返ってくる。「うまいから、コンビニの定番商品なんだろ！？」
上述した、天むすや小倉マーガリンは東海三県のコンビニなら、どこの店でもたいてい手に入るのだが、他の地域では手に入らないどころか認知度も低い。同じような種類の名物がもう1つある。それはコンビニではなく、高速の休憩所で売っている"五平餅"。正確には名古屋発祥ではないが、東海人なら誰もが知っている人気商品だ。こういった商品が全国区になる日はいつ来るのだろうか？
