World Cup Soccer 2006 Germany will come soon. Then, I'd like to expect the view of Group League.

First is group A.

Group A

◎ Germany

○ Poland

× Ecuador

× Costa Rica

Host country Germany is a cinch in this group. Based on both past achievments (3 times in 1st place, 3 times in 2nd place, and 2 times in 3rd place), and the abilities of the players, Germany is the favorite. Looking back the history of World Cup Soccer, there was no chance that host country lost in Group League. Besides all, Germany aims to get a championship with a lot of supports as Korea and Japan made use of local supports at last World Cup.
There is another factor that this is seen by the "Emperor" Beckenbauer who won the Championship both as a player and as a manager. They should try to win the Championship, and the heart of this team must be new "Emperor" Ballack.

Next is group B.

Group B

◎ England

○ Sweden

△ Paraguay

× Trinidad and Tobago

Here, in this group, England (once in 1st place) and Sweden will lead this group. England was the cinch in this group once, but the best 2-top in the world, Owen and Rooney, got wounded in their legs, therefore, they can't prepare for the event. Rooney is even wondered if he can join in this event (In 2002, Beckham also got wounded right before World Cup).
No matter what, the main players of 2002 are in the prime of time, and they are the one of the favorite of the champion.

もうすぐ「W杯2006 ドイツ大会」が開幕します。そこで、今回はグループリーグの展望を予想してみたいと思います。

まずはグループA。

Group A

◎ ドイツ

○ ポーランド

× エクアドル

× コスタリカ

ここは開催国ドイツが大本命でしょう。過去の実績(優勝3回、準優勝3回、3位2回)からいっても、メンバーの実力的に見ても、ドイツでしょう。過去のW杯の歴史を見ても、開催国が予選敗退したことは1度もありませんから。そして何より、前大会で日韓が地元開催の利を生かしたように、このドイツも地の利を生かして1990年以来の優勝を目指す。
また大会組織委員会のかつて"皇帝"と呼ばれ、選手としても、そして監督としてもW杯優勝を成し遂げたベッケンバウアーのお膝元での試合ということもある。何が何でも優勝を目指すことは間違いない。その中心にいるのは間違いなく、"新皇帝"バラック"のはずだ。

次にグループB。

Group B

◎ イングランド

○ スウェーデン

△ パラグアイ

× トリニダートトバコ

ここはイングランド(優勝1回)とスウェーデンが2強となってグループを牽引するのではないでしょうか？本来ならイングランドが大本命のはずだったのですが、世界最強ともいえる2トップのオーウェンとルーニーの2人ともが足の怪我のため、本調子では望めないどころか、ルーニーにいたっては、大会出場自体が危ぶまれている。(そういえば、2002年の時もベッカムが直前で怪我したし、イングランドは呪われているのだろうか？)
とはいえ、2002年の主力が全盛期を迎えた状態で望む今大会、優勝候補の一角でもある。
