2nd game of today, Netherlands vs Ivory Coast was the tense game in contrast. Netherlands got 2 successive goals (1st goal by Free Kick was marvelous!!) in advance but Ivory Coast followed with 1 goal and controled the game. However, Netherlans kept defensing and won the game.

This African team is strong, it was same for their first match against Argentina. It is unbelievable that they are first time to join in World Cup. There are no special player but their abilities of phisical are quite high. If they learned statics, they might change the soccer map that have been led by South America and Europe.
To be frankly, they controled the game more than Argentina or Netherlands. But it is true that no African team won the game so far. This is one of the fun that soccer is unpredictable.

As the fact that 2 teams going to final stage were decided in "Death Group" Group C suggests, there is no upset this World Cup. So-called strong countries won games in safe and there were no surprises as the favorites France & Argentina, lost in group league in World Cup 2002. The only upset so far was that France tie in scoreless.
The half of group league was over and no surprise will be expected but I'd like to wish the upset that Japan beat Brazil.

そして本日の第2試合、オランダvsコートジボアールは打って変わって緊迫した試合となった。オランダが2点先取した(1点目のFKはかなり凄い！！)ものの、コートジボアールが1点を入れ、その後はコートジボアールが押し続けたものの、オランダが守りきり、勝利した。

初戦、アルゼンチン戦の時もそうだったが、このアフリカのチーム。強い！！とても大会初出場とは思えないほどに強い。誰か一人飛びぬけた選手がいるわけではなく、全員の身体能力が高く、彼らが戦術を覚えた時、今まで南米・ヨーロッパの二大勢力だったサッカー地図にアフリカというのが加わるような気がしてならない。
はっきりいって、今日の試合も、先日のアルゼンチン戦も、試合としては、コートジボアールの方が支配していた。とはいえ、今大会アフリカのチームがここまで1勝もしていないのも事実。何が起こるかわからないサッカーの面白さがこういったところにも垣間見える。

2試合目を終わった時点で、"死の組"と呼ばれていたグループCの決勝トーナメント進出2チームが決まってしまったように、今大会は波乱がない。いわゆる強豪国が無難に勝ち、2002年の時のようなサプライズ(優勝候補の最右翼だったフランス、アルゼンチンがともにグループリーグ敗退)はほぼ"0"。唯一の波乱といえば、フランスが初戦をスコアレス・ドローに終わったことだけか？
グループ･リーグも約半分が終わり、今後もサプライズは起きそうにないが、願わくば日本がブラジルに勝つというサプライズを期待したいものだ。
