10th day, the day that counts the digesting one-third of whole event, divided the destiny of two countries that led current Asian soccer.

First was Japan. Japan lost first game and they needed to win to go to final stage by themselves. The result was tie, in 0-0. It was boring game that there were only 4 chances to get a goal in total of both teams.
Croatian penalty kick was stopped by Japanese goal keeper Kawaguchi. He did a really good job, which couldn't cancel his mistake in first game but it was fine play. However Japanese offense were really uninteresting. They could pass at mid-field but they couldn't pass it to forward, or they were taken even if they could pass it.

At 2nd half, Japan changed three players, Inamoto instead of Fukunishi, Tamada of Yanagisawa, and Ohguro of Takahara. These substitutions all worked well. I think two players except Takahara, should be starting member. I mean, I'd like them to except Yanagisawa from the starting member in next game. As long as he is in the game, Japan can't get a goal, in my opinion. Today he missed the assist that was really easy to goal which was just needed to touch by foot. I thought it was not that he adjusted but that the ball hit him. He is a player of no worth.

By contrast, Tamada was so good. He dribbled in, which made opponents confused and the pass from mid-field could be connected to forward. Another substitute, Inamoto, was also good. Thanks to him, they could become pass from the bottom of mid-field to both sides, which brought many variation of attacking.

As a result, Japan need to win against Brazil with 2-goals difference or more to go to final stage. I hope that Tamada & Inamoto will be in the starting member and I'd like to expect the diplomacy as a legendary hero of Brazil.

大会10日目。今日で全体の3分の1が終わったことになる日。近年のアジア・サッカーを牽引してきた両雄の明暗が分かれた日ともなった。

まずは日本。初戦を落とし、今日勝たないと決勝トーナメント進出が非常に難しくなる試合。結果は0-0の引き分け。両チーム合わせて、決定機は4回だけという退屈な試合内容だった。
まずはクロアチアのPK。これは川口がよく止めた。前回のミスの帳消しとまではいかないまでも、ファイン・プレーだった。が、なんでこうも日本の攻めは面白くないんだ？という攻め。中盤でボールをまわすものの、前線までつながらない。つながっても、すぐにFWがボールを奪われてしまう。

後半、福西に変えて稲本を、柳沢に変えて玉田を、そして高原に変えて大黒を投入。この選手交代はすべてうまくいった。というか、高原以外の2人に関しては、スタメンで良かった。てか、ブラジル戦はとりあえず柳沢は外してほしい。彼が出ている限り、日本は得点できない気がして仕方がない。今日も足で合わせるだけでゴールに入るパスを外した(というか、合わせたというよりはボールがたまたま足に当たった・・・って感じ)し、もはや存在意義"0"だ。

それに引き換え、途中から入った玉田は良かった。ドリブルで突っかけて、敵DFを混乱させ、中盤からのパスが前線につながるようになった。そしてもう一人の交替選手、稲本も良かった。稲本が入ったおかげで、中盤の底からの左右への展開ができるようになり、攻撃のバリエーションが広がった。

というわけで、次回、最低でもブラジル相手に2点差以上で勝たない限り、決勝トーナメント進出は無理な状況になってしまったが、次回のスタメンに玉田と稲本が名を連ねること、そしてブラジルの英雄という地位を利用したジーコ監督の政治力に期待したい。
