2nd game. Germany won the first game and they became the 1st place in group A. Therefore, England should win or draw this game to avoid battle with Germany in best 16.

Once I thought it was usual starting member, but there wasn't Gerrard. It should be coack Eriksson's measure to avoid getting yellow card in this game, which will miss him in the best 16 match. And when I saw forward, I was delighted!!
"Wonder Boy" of past and now tagged as 2-top, Owen and Rooney!! Both of them have similar play-style, so I thought, it was impossible to see this 2-top but it came true because England had alredy decided going to final stage.

However, right after the game began, misfortune happened to England. Owen twisted his knee and went out of the game. It was sudden not that he competed with opponents, but he just tried to pass without opponent. As long as watching on TV, it was too heavy because his knee bent to inconceivable direction...

そして2組目。1試合目でドイツが勝ち、A組1位を決めたため、イングランドはこの試合に勝つか引き分けないと、決勝トーナメント1回戦でドイツと当たることになる試合だった。

スターティング･メンバー、いつもと変わりないと思っていると、ジェラードがいない。この試合でイエローカードをもらって、決勝トーナメント1試合目に出れなくなるのを避けるためのエリクソン監督の措置だろう(グループリーグのイエロー・カードは決勝トーナメントではクリアされる)。そしてフォワード・・・。歓喜した！！
新旧"ワンダー・ボーイ"のオーウェンとルーニーの2トップ!!二人とも似たタイプであるため、この2人の2トップを見ることはないだろうと思っていたが、すでに勝ち抜けを決めたためにこの組み合わせが実現したのだ！！

が、試合開始直後、いきなりイングランドに災難が降りかかる。オーウェンが膝を捻って負傷退場してしまう。DFと競り合ったわけでもなく、ただフリーでパスを出そうとした瞬間、突然の出来事だった。映像で見る限り、かなりの重症だと思われる。膝があらぬ方向に曲がっているのだから・・・。
