After that, England got 1st goal and they controled the game till the end of 1st half. But Sweden tied soon after the 2nd half began. England's mid-field that had controled tha game was took the initiative by Sweden miserably. Then England sent Gerrard to change the mood but it didn't work. I was scared everytime Sweden kicked corner kick. 5 minutes before the end, Gerrard got the goal with heading-shoot but Sweden tied again right before the end of the game, then game was over with the score 2-2.

As the result, England became 1st place of group B, and Sweden was 2nd. So the matched of best 16 come to Germany vs Sweden and England vs Ecuador.

There is one danger that they have only Rooney without Owen's comeback. Rooney is still 20 y/o and he is often irritated. Today, a camera showed his anger attitude in bench after he was substituted. If he gets outburst on the pitch, he might get yellow or even red-card, which make England fight with only 10 players.
In this point, Owen is really gentle. So it was coach Eriksson's tactics that Owen was the starting member seeing through their characters.

その後、試合はイングランドが先制し、イングランドが終始ゲームを支配したまま前半を終えるが、後半開始直後、スウェーデンが同点に追いついたことで、ゲームが動く。それまで中盤を支配していたはずのイングランドが見るも無残にスウェーデンに主導権を握られる。たまらずジェラードをピッチに送り出したが、流れは変わらず、スウェーデンのコーナー･キックの度にヒヤッとさせられる。試合終了5分前、ジェラードが起死回生のヘディング･シュートを決めるが、終了直前に追いつかれ、2-2の引き分けに終わった。
試合のハイライト (イングランド vs スウェーデン)
結果、イングランドがB組1位、スウェーデンが2位となり、ドイツvsスウェーデン、イングランドvsエクアドルがベスト16の最初の2試合に決まった。

この先、オーウェンが復帰できずにルーニーのみだとひとつ危険がある。ルーニーはまだ20歳と若いが故なのか、よく切れる。今日も交代した後、ベンチで切れてる映像が映っていた。もし試合中に切れてしまった場合、イエロー･カードどころかレッド･カードをもらい10人で戦わなければいけない場面が出てくるかもしれない。
その点、オーウェンは非常に紳士で先発がオーウェンだったのも、おそらく2人のこういった性格を見抜いた上でのエリクソン監督の戦略だったのだろう。
