There was final game of World Cup opened on June 9th. It was Italy vs France; Italy won championship 3 times already while France once. And it was the last game of "The Only Talent in 10 Years", Zidane.

France took the 1st goal by Zidane's penalty kick in the beginning of the game, but Italy controled the game, and Italy caught up with the heading-shoot of Materazzi.

France took the initiative in 2nd half, and they kept attacking with Henry but they couldn't make it. Game continued to the overtime and France kept the initiative but Zidane was sent off with red card right after the beginning of 2nd half of overtime. Despite the disadvantage of the number of players 10 by 11, France went on attacking but there was no goal and it went on to penalty shootout.
All Italian kickers made it while French kicker Trezeguet's shoot hit the goal bar and missed. Then Italy won the 4th championship in their history.

6月9日に開幕したW杯、その最後の試合。優勝3回のイタリアと優勝1回のフランスの決勝戦となった。そして"10年に1人の逸材"ジダンの現役引退試合でもあった。

試合開始早々にジダンのPKでフランスが先制したが、試合はイタリアがコントロール。そしてコーナーからマテラッツィのヘディング･シュートで同点に追いつく。
しかし後半はフランスが主導権を握り、アンリを中心に攻めまくるが得点はできず。勝負は延長戦へ。延長戦もフランスが主導権を握り続けるが、延長後半開始早々に、ジダンが一発レッドで退場。10人対11人になったが、それでもフランスは一方的に攻め続ける。しかし得点はできず、らPK戦へ。

イタリアが全員決めたのに対し、フランスはトレゼゲのシュートがクロスバーに当たり、イタリアが4度目の優勝を果たした。
