Final counted for its 18th time. There were a lot of things. First it was the first time for last 28 years after 6 World Cups that either Brazil or Germany wasn't on final. There had been only 4 times ever that both teams didn't show up on final, and this time became 5th time. We can know how strong Brazil and Germany are.
And it bacame 2nd final that decided in PK following 1994. In 1994, Italy lost on PK but this time they won on PK, which is dramatic.

This game was also the final game for Zidane. France became one with the emotion that they would celebrate the ending of the genius, and they showed really great performance. But it was really sad that Zidane himself broke the game.
He had sometimes got mad and got red card ever. But nobody expected that Zidane did butting on the opponent in the last game for him, that is the final on World Cup.

He did a tip-kick to teasing goal keeper for the PK that became 1st goal today, and he also shot a heading-shoot stopped by goal keeper Buffon that reminding the final in 1998. If France won the game, he might get the MVP of this World Cup. Therefore, it was so pity.
Who expected such ending of the ledend?

今回で18回目となった決勝戦。ブラジルあるいはドイツが参加しない決勝戦としては7大会、28年ぶりとなった。今までの18回の中で、決勝戦でブラジル、ドイツの両チームがいなかった試合というのは4回しかなく、今回が5回目となる。いかにブラジルとドイツが強かったかということがよくわかる。
そしてPKで決着がついた決勝戦も今回が94年に続き、2回目となった。94年はPKに泣いたイタリアが今回はPKで笑ったというのもドラマを感じる。

そしてジダンの現役引退試合となったこの試合。天才の花道を勝利で飾ろうというフランスの気迫が、チーム全体にみなぎり、素晴らしい試合をしていたのにも関わらず、その天才自らゲームを壊してしまったことはとても残念だ。
今までにもちょっとしたことでキレて、一発退場をしたことがしばしばあったが、まさか自分の現役引退試合、ましてやW杯決勝戦で相手に対して頭突きをかますとは、誰も予想していなかっただろう。
先制点となったPKではキーパーの虚をつくようなチップ･キックでゴールを決め、延長前半もブッフォンにとめられはしたものの、98年大会の決勝戦を彷彿とさせるようなヘディング･シュートを放ち、そのままいけば大会MVPを獲得していた可能性もあっただけに残念でならない。
伝説の最終章がこんな風になるとは誰が予想しただろうか？
