Last weekend, I went to JAPAN EXPO to shoot the Kimono Show. It was only 3 days ago before the show, so I had a lot of trouble but I could manage to have 3 cameras.
Also I had another problem because it was first time for me to visit the place, Los Angeles Convention Center. Although I checked up the site map on Internet, it was different one from another; plane figure and real place.
However, I could finish the shooting as I could be satisfied, and everything depends on editing now.
Regarding editing, I already got used to doing it, so there is no fear about it. The important thing is whether people feel the beauty of Japanese tradition seeing the completed image or not.
The Kimono Show itself introduced various kinds of Kimono from traditional one, one for children, one can be done within 3 minutes, to the denim one. I thought that tradition goes to change day by day.

先週末は、JAPAN EXPOの着物ショーの撮影をしてきました。撮影を依頼されたのが、3日前だったため、いろいろと大変でしたが、何とかカメラは3台用意することができました。
また会場となったロサンゼルス・コンベンション・センターも初めてだったため、Web上で会場図をチェックしたものの、平面図で見るのと、実物を見るのとではやはり違いがあるため、その点においても、頭を悩ませました。
とはいえ、撮影自体は概ね、納得のいく撮影ができ、後は編集次第といった感じです。
編集に関しては、もう慣れたものなので、何の不安もありません。後は、完成した映像を見て、いかに多くの人が日本の伝統美というものを感じてくれるか？といったところですね。
さて、その着物ショーですが、伝統的なものから3分で着れるもの、そして子供用のもの、果てはデニム素材のものまで、幅広い種類の着物が紹介されました。伝統というものも、やはり時代と共に変わっていくようです。
会場内には寿司やカレー、うどんなどの食べ物も売っていたり、ゲームセンター的なコーナーもあったり、久々に"日本"を感じた1日となりました。
