"Settai"
What a great word, it is?
(This is only for the case that I will be hosted...)
It means a formal and social reception to reward one's work or to build a good relationship for the future.
In brief, eating and drinking on someone's treat.
I had this "settai" reception for the first time since I came to US and it was held by Americans not by Japanese.
It was a big surprise for me that there is Settai in US.
The most impressive "settai" I ever had in Japan was by TOYOTA.
I became really nervous because I was the younguest at the reception, the youngest was hosted by the older people. Moreover, all the people were more than 10 years older than me. Besides, they were from the one of the most famous company worldwide. The place was also the one that everybody thinks it should be. So I gatered myself up all the time during the settai.
Compared with that, it was really easy situation the other day; They were not so older and the place was sushi bar. However one of them was the man who has the great career at not limited in US but also has worldwide entertainment companies.
The food was also wonderful.(Especially the one was great that tempura style spicy tuna roll)
It was really meaningful settai that brought us a new business chance and I didn't get nervous at all.
