Last weekend, I went to the live concert of Japanese band, Dir en grey, at House of Blues. This venue was used by B'z and GLAY for their live concert in Los Angeles in the past.

The big difference between Dir en grey and B'z or GLAY is audience. Almost 90% was non-Japanese. Their tickets were sold out in only 15 minutes at BUDO-KAN, one of the most famous concert venue with more than 10,000 capacity. However they are told they are more popular in US and Europe more than in Japan.
There were an old lady with a cane and old man with carry-bag at this Japanese band concert. Then I thought one thing.

I wish that CHAGE & ASKA could have an concert in USA.

-First time player at MTV UNPLUGGED as Asian
-3 successive invitation to World Music Awards (2 were as Asian representative)
-Theme song for Hollywood movie -Worldwide sales of their cover album "One Voice"
(covered by Chaka Khan, Michael Hutchence, Richard Marx and so on) Like these accomplishement, their works are really great.

I hope their coming-back live will be held in Los Angeles!!

先週末、House of Bluesというライブハウスで行われたDir en greyという日本のバンドのライブに行ってきました。このHouse of Bluesという場所は、過去にB'zやGLAYがロサンゼルスでライブをした時にも使われたライブハウスです。

今回のDir en greyがB'zやGLAYと大きく異なる点は9割方が非日本人という客層だということ。彼らは武道館2daysのチケットが15分でソールドアウトしてしまうようなバンドにも関わらず、日本よりも欧米での知名度が高いとすら言われているらしい。
アメリカのライブハウスで日本のバンドが歌って、杖をついたお婆ちゃんやキャリーバッグを持ったお爺ちゃんという一見場違いなお客さんたちをも熱狂させているという光景を目の当たりにして、1つ思ったことがある。

是非チャゲアスにもアメリカでライブをして欲しかったなということ。

-MTV UNPLUGGEDにアジア人史上初の出演
-World Music Awards 3年連続出場(内2年はアジア代表として)
-ハリウッド映画への全世界向けのEnding Song提供
-One Voiceという海外アーティストによるカバーアルバムの世界発売
(チャカ・カーン、マイケル・ハッチェンス、リチャード・マークスらがカバー)
などなど、実績的には申し分ないと思う。

いつか無期限休止が終わって復活ライブをする際はぜひLAで！
