Germany won against Greece with the score of 4-2 yesterday! Also Spain won over France with 2-0.

Two teams who matched at the EURO 2008 final and World Cup 2010 semi-final stay alive till semi-final of EURO 2012. Possible match of these two will be the final. It will be the first time ever that same two teams play the final of EURO in 2 consecutive event.
(According to their potential, it will be more likely to happen)

For the quarter final of Germany vs Greece, it showed the same result of the current problem of currency EURO.
Chancellor Merkel showed up at the stadium again following World Cup 2006, EURO 2008 and World Cup 2010, which became a kind of annual event...

Kloze also appears for starting member for the first time in this tournament. He scored 3rd goal of Germany. He has reigned for more than 10 years as an ace striker of the leading nation Germany since World Cup 2002. Actually he is the only player who still plays for national team of Germany as a member of World Cup 2002.
This is a really rare case even looking into other countries. There was a player Lothar Matthaus who is ex-captain of Germany national team and he played over 20 years from 1980 to 2000 and joined World Cup for 5 times. However he is the midfielder while Kloze is a striker that needs speed and that's why how fantastic Kloze's achievement is. He intends to participate into World Cup 2014, personally I hope he can realize and new record of the goal at World Cup.

It went too far ahead in the future but I just want to look forward to watching the final of EURO 2012 between Germany and Spain!

昨日ドイツはギリシャ相手に4-2で快勝！そして今日スペインもフランス相手に2-0で快勝。

EURO2008の決勝、W杯2010の準決勝を戦った2チームが共にベスト4まで勝ち残った。両チームが対戦するとすれば決勝戦。史上初の2大会連続・同一カードによる決勝戦という最高の組み合わせが実現する可能性もある。
(実力的にはその可能性がかなり高い)

さて、ドイツとギリシャの準々決勝に関しては、通貨ユーロの勝ち組・負け組み対決でもあり、通貨戦争の結果がサッカーにおいてもそのまま反映された形となった。
ドイツのメルケル首相がスタジアムで観戦しているのもW杯2006、EURO2008、W杯2010に引き続き、もう恒例行事である(笑)。

そしてこの試合では、今大会初めてクローゼがスタメン起用。そしてチームの3点目を決めた。考えてみれば、W杯2002以降10年以上に渡ってずっと強豪ドイツのエース・ストライカーとして君臨し続けており、2002年のメンバーで今も代表に残っているのはクローゼのみだ。
世界の他の強豪国を見渡してみても、こういう選手は稀。かつて同じドイツにマテウスという選手が1980年〜2000年までという異例の長さで代表に選ばれ5度のW杯に出場した選手もいたが、彼は中盤の選手であり、スピードを求められるフォワードで長年代表を務めるクローゼの活躍は目を見張るものがある。本人は2014年のW杯も目指しているらしく、個人的にもぜひ出場してもらい、歴代得点記録の更新を期待したい(2010年W杯の時点で、最高記録まで1点の14点)。

ちょっと話が先走ったが、EURO2012決勝ドイツvsスペインを楽しみに待ちたい！
