Unfortunately, my favorite Germany lost against Italy at semi-final, and unexpected final happened between Spain and Italy. Then Spain won with the score of 4-0, the biggest score in the history of EURO final and Spain made the first time consecutive championships of EURO.

Because of missing Villa and Puyol, Spain was told that they were in danger and they tied with Italy in the group league and won the rest matched by a neck. However Casillas kept his goal closed without any scoring and won the championship. They were like Germany in 80s and 90s. Spain also won World Cup championship in 2010 even though they lost the 1st game in the group league. Spain shows a kind of "German-spirit/Never-Give-up spirit", which was meant for Germany national team but currently it looks like as if the word exists for Spain national team.

Let's review the semi-final Germany vs Italy. Germany changed their starting member from the one against Greece at quarter-final. Gomez was used in exchange with Klose who could do both scoring and assisting goals. Gomez is far inferior as compared with Kloze concering the combinations with other players. The worse thing was that both Italian goals were from counter-attack and if there were Kloze in the pitch, who could keep the ball, as a starting member, these counter-attack might not happen. So it was so regrettable.
Whatever, Germany lost against Italy easily as if their black history affected on this game, which Germany never won against Italy in the past EURO and World Cup.
On the other hand, Balotelli scoring 2 goals was just like Italain legend, Paolo Rossi who played in World Cup 1982. He made a hat trick from 3-time counter-attacks against Brazil who had "Golden Quartett" including Zico and the best favorite for the championship. Then Italy won the championship at that time.
However Balotelli shined only against Germany and he couldn't become Rossi and Spain shattered Italy completely.

Possibly, I'd like to watch Germany vs Spain at the final. Since Spain does pass-soccer based on Barcelona's midfield while German midfield was conducted by Ozil and Khedira, core players of Real Madrid who won the championship of Liga Espanola this year. In other words, Spain vs Germany is Barcelona vs Real Madrid in another dimension and Germany = Real Madrid had the only possibility to beat Spain = Barcelona.
That chance was carried over to World Cup 2014 Brazil, I would like to look forward to watching how younger Germany can catch up with Spain.

残念ながら、我がドイツ代表は準決勝でイタリアに敗れてしまい、予想とは異なるスペイン対イタリアという決勝戦になった。そして4-0というEURO決勝としては史上最大の大差でスペインが勝利。史上初のEURO連覇を成し遂げた。

大会前はビジャとプジョルの欠場で危ないかも？と言われ、グループ・リーグではイタリアと引き分け、その後も僅差での勝利が続いた。しかしカシージャス零封を続け、最終的には優勝を果たした。まるで80年代〜90年代のドイツのようだ。2010年のW杯も初戦敗退にも関わらず、そのまま優勝まで駆け上がったり、ゲルマン魂とはドイツ代表のためにあった言葉のはずなのに、今ではスペインのためにあるかのようだ。

さて準決勝、ドイツ対イタリア戦。準々決勝のギリシャ戦からスタメンを変えてきた。自分で点も取れ、アシストもできるクローゼではなく、ゴメスを使ってきた。ゴメスは周りとの連携という点から見るとクローゼには遠く及ばない。しかもイタリアの2得点はいずれもカウンター気味のもので、前線でキープできるクローゼがスタメンであれば、これらのカウンターはなく、イタリアの得点はなかったかもしれないだけに悔やまれる・・・。

しかし相性というのはここまで影響するのか？というくらい、過去にEUROならびにW杯でイタリア戦未勝利のドイツはあっけなく敗退してしまった。
逆に、得点したイタリアのFWバロテッリは、まるで1982年W杯の英雄パオロ・ロッシのようだった。当時ジーコ率いる黄金の中盤要する優勝候補筆頭のブラジル相手に3度のカウンターからロッシがハットトリックを遂げ、そのままイタリアが優勝したのだった。
しかしバロテッリが輝いたのはドイツ戦のみで、ロッシにはなれないまま、決勝ではスペインの前に砕け散った。

可能であれば、やはりドイツ対スペインの決勝を見たかった。というのもスペイン代表の原型はバルセロナの中盤をベースにしたパス･サッカーであり、今季そのバルセロナを押さえリーガ優勝を果たしたレアル・マドリードの中盤の中核を成すエジルと同じレアルの中盤ケディラ率いるドイツ代表との戦いは、言うなればバルセロナ対レアル・マドリードの別次元での戦いでもあり、今のバルセロナを倒す＝スペインを倒す可能性があるのが、ドイツ代表だったから。
その可能性は2014年ブラジルW杯に持ち越されたわけだが、平均年齢の若いドイツがどこまでスペインに迫れるのか、期待したい。
