I woke up at 11am after I went to the bed 4am. Actually there were not so many spots where I'd like to visit, so that's ok to wake up late.

I walked along Bloor Street towards eastern. There was a Koreatown on the way and also I found Japanese noodle restaurant, too. Also there was a museum featuring shoes. Turning at the corner of ROM museum that had appearance of the mixture of old and new, walked down to south looking at Toronto University on the right side. It had also European style exterior similar with McGill University in Montreal, which made me feel huge gap between these universities and Japanese ones.

Then I arrived at the Ontario parliament building where was the main reason to give up Ottawa overnight stay at just a few minutes past 12pm. I joined 12:30pm tour but it was not so fan compared with Quebec or US state buildings. If I knew this in advance I should have stayed in Ottawa...

Next I visited the city hall, which was also not so satisfying and I got depressed a bit. I imagined it as futuristic building from the photos but I felt some oldness, especially north side was left with some holes on the ceiling.

I bought some pins at Hard Rock Cafe and took a lunch at Tim Hortons. This is really popular coffee chain in Canada and has atmosphere of mixing Starbucks Coffee and Krispy Kreme Donuts. They served sweet coffee, which perfectly match with me who loves sweets. Also donuts was good. One of them, French Cruller, looks really same visual with the one in Japanese famous donuts chain... and it was exactly the same taste!!

On the way to Union Station, I found a illusionism on the building wall. It looks everything was drawing but the window was actual window. There was SONY theater next door. Arriving at Union Station, it was under construction. It was not like Quebec fancy building but like Greek temple as US stations.

Then went to the base of CN Tower. Because of cloudy sky, I gave up to go up and walked down to harbor front. I got dizzy and took a nap for 30 minutes at the lobby of a hotel nearby. It was already dark when I got outside and change into night-view camera mode.

Union Station Night 1 夜のユニオン駅1

Taking some photos of CN Tower and others, I came to theater district. They played War Horse that I watched the news on TV before. I'd like to see that!! However I had to give up after I checked my wallet.
For the dinner, I went to the Japanese noodle restaurant I found in the morning. I ordered soy-sauce ramen, which was ordinary taste.

Whatever, I don't know what I should do to enjoy everytime I visit modern metropolitan cities like New York, Tokyo and this Toronto. What shall I do for next 2 days?

さすがに今日は昨晩寝たのが朝4時ということもあり、11時起き。まぁトロントはそんなに見たいところも多いわけではないし、それも良いだろう。

ホテルを出て、Bloor St.沿いを東へと歩いた。途中コリアタウンがあり、そこになぜか日本のラーメン屋を発見した。そして次に靴の博物館もあった。そして新旧折衷の外観のROMという博物館のところで角を曲がり、南下。トロント大学を右手に見ながら歩く。モントリオールのマギル大学同様中世ヨーロッパのお城のような建物に改めて日本の大学との違いを思い知った。

そしてオタワでの1泊を諦めてまでトロントにやってきた目的地、オンタリオ州議事堂に到着。12時過ぎに着いたところ、12時半からのツアーに参加できた。しかしケベック州やアメリカの各州で見てきたそれと比べるとやや寂しい感が否めない。これならオタワに1泊すれば良かった。

その後、市庁舎を訪れるが、こちらも予想していたのと違って、なんか拍子抜け。近代的な建物かと思っていたのだが、意外に古さを感じた。特に北側は天井に穴が開いていても放置されていたり・・・。

続いてHRCでピンを購入し、Tim Hortonsというカフェで昼食。カナダでは有名なチェーン店らしく、ミスタードーナツとスタバを足したような感じ。甘党好きの自分にはピッタリの甘いコーヒーが出てきた。ドーナツも見た目がミスドのフレンチクルーラーのものを頼んだら、まさしくフレンチクルーラーだった。

ユニオン・ステーションに向かう途中、建物の壁面に書かれただまし絵を見つけた。すべて絵だと思っていたら窓は実際の窓でなかなか面白い。その側にSONYの劇場もあった。そしてユニオン・ステーションへ。思いっきり工事中・・・。ここはケベックのそれとは違い、アメリカと同じ神殿風。

そしてCNタワーのふもとへ。曇っているので、上るのはやめて、そのままハーバー･フロントへ。歩いていると立ちくらみしたので、近場のホテルのロビーで30分ほど仮眠をとった。外に出ると暗くなっており、夜景撮影モードに切り替え。

CNタワーなどの撮影を済ませ、歩いていると劇場街へ出た。前にテレビでニュースになっていたWar Horseがやっているらしい。見たい！が、財布と相談して断念。
夕食は朝見かけたラーメン屋へ。醤油ラーメンを頼んだ。まぁ普通。

しかしNYといい、東京といい、ここトロントといい、近代的な大都市は観光で訪れると何をどうして遊んだら良いのかよくわからない。明日と明後日は何をしようか？
