Finally today is the last day of this long trip.

I visited Casa Loma, medieval look apperance castle. However the entrance fee was more than all the money in my wallet and gave up entering. However I could find a nice place in Toronto at the end, where I felt boring.

I got back to the hotel at 1:30pm and picked up my baggage and went to the airport. There was no trouble on the way to the airport and I could finish the US immigration process in Toronto airport. This is really amazing even though it is next country. We can't imagine same thing in eastern Asia such as Japan, Korea and China.

There was 30 minutes delay departing from DC, stopover point, and arrival to Los Angeles was also 30 minutes delayed.

Looking back this trip, or listening to the music through this trip was that why there was no song featuring "Kou-You (leaves in red in fall/autumn)" even though there were a lot of cherry blossom (spring), ocean (summer) and christmas (winter) songs in Japan.
There is no concept of "Kou-You" in foreign countries, so there is no way to have such song. There is no word in English meaning "Kou-You" in Japanese and ofcourse there is no word "Kou-You hunting" in English. The similar word could be "leaves in red" but it doesn't explain how Japanese people feel in the word of "Kou-You".

In that point, this was a very good trip for me to feel I was really happy to be born in Japn who has a culture of "Kou-You". Also Maple Highway was a nice trip to eat delicious foods and I hope I would be able to come back in the future.

長かったこの旅もいよいよ最終日。

11時起きでカサロマという中世のお城風建築を見学に行った。予想以上にしっかりとしたお城だったが、入場料が財布の中にある残金よりも高かったため、入場は断念。外観を楽しむだけだったが、退屈気味だったトロントで最終日に素敵な場所を見つけることができた。

13時半ころホテルに戻って荷物を引き取り、空港へ。特に問題なく空港へ到着。トロントの空港内でアメリカの入国審査を済ませた。隣国とは言え、凄いことだ。日本、韓国、中国の東アジアでは絶対にあり得ない・・・。

ワシントンDC経由時に離陸が30分遅れ、LA到着も30分ほど遅れたが、無事到着。

この旅を振り返ってというか、旅の最中に音楽を聴きながら思ったのは、日本の歌謡曲(童謡は除く・・・)には季節ごとに桜ソング(春)だったり、海ソング(夏)だったり、クリスマスソング(冬)だったり、と季節に色を添える歌が数多くある。しかし紅葉ソング(秋)がないのはなぜなのか？ってこと。
これは日本に限った話ではないが、そもそも海外では紅葉という概念がないので、そんな歌が生まれるはずもない。英語では"紅葉"という単語すらないし、当然"紅葉狩り"なんて言葉もない。単純に"葉が赤くなった"という言い方しかない。

そういう意味では、紅葉を美しいと思える(外人も思っているだろうけど・・・)、そして紅葉を愛でる文化を持った日本に生まれて本当に良かったと思える旅でした。食事も美味しかったし、またいつか戻ってきたいと思えるメープル街道の旅でした。
