Last Tuesday, one famous actor visit our school to promote his new movie and to encourage students to go to vote for upcoming presidential election. (Deriving from the content that the main topic is relating to politics.) The new movie is "Siver City", which is an independent film starring Chris Cooper!!
I went to the school on that day as usual, and our teacher told us the day's schedule at the beginning of the class, which was unusual event. He said he would do half an hour lecture and he mentioned the event, which made me and most Japanese students crazy. He said we could go to listen to the one of the greatest director of the independent cinema, whose name was John Sayles after the 30 minutes lecture and ordered us to come back one hour after.
Therefore I couldn't concentrate on the lecture, it was so long time for me to wait. But the time came! and I went to the place and there were more than 10 people on the stage including director and some actors. One of the reason they came to my school was one of their crew was graduate from LACC, and another reason was LACC was famous school to study cinema because of some alumni like Mimi Leder, who was a director of "Deep Impact", "Peace Maker", and "Pay It Forward".
I was really astonished when I found him, whose name was Chris Cooper. He is in the role in the movie "October Sky", which is my best movie ever. He also plays roles in the movie such as "American Beauty" and "Seabuiscuit".
There was another famous actor, whose name was Billy Zane. He is really famous because he played a role in the movie "TITANIC". He performed a bridegroom of Rose, who was a heroine acted by Kate Winslet.
Then I forgot the fact that I was a student and I became a just movie fan. I took their photos and I got their autographs.
This was the most exciting event since I moved into Los Angeles, and this event also let me realize that my choice was really good for studying cinema.
I hope we can have wonderful events like this more.

先週の火曜日にある有名な俳優が自分の学校に来て、新作のプロモーションと、間近に迫った大統領選挙に行くように促しをしました。(映画の内容が政治関連の内容ということもあるのだろうが・・・)その映画は「シルバー・シティー」というインディペンデント映画で、クリス・クーパー主演の作品です。
その日、いつも通りに学校に行くと、先生が授業の始まりにその日のスケジュールを発表しました。これはいつも通りではない出来事でした。先生は30分の講義をすると言った後でそのイベントについて触れました。そして私と多くの日本人学生は、その発言によって興奮しました。先生はその30分の講義が終わったら、ジョン・セイラーというインディペント映画界の巨匠の話を聞きに行きなさい、そして1時間後に戻ってきなさいと言ったのです。それ故にその日の講義は集中できませんでした、待つのがこれほど長いとは・・・。しかし、その時はやってきました。その場所に行くと、監督以外にも俳優を含めて10人以上の人がステージ上にいました。彼らの中にLACCの卒業生がいたということと、LACCが「ディープ・インパクト」や「ピース・メーカー」、そして「ペイ・フォワード」の監督であるミミ・レダーのような卒業生のおかげでLACC自体が映画を学ぶのには良い学校であるという理由で、LACCを訪問したようです。
本当に驚きました、彼を見つけた時は・・・。クリス・クーパーを見つけた時は・・・。彼は私が今まで見た映画の中で最も好きな映画「遠い空の向こうに」に出演しています。他にも「アメリカン・ビューティー」や「シービスケット」といった映画にも出演しています。
もう一人ビリー・ゼーンもいました。彼は本当に有名な俳優です、というのも「タイタニック」でケート・ウィンスレットの演じたローズの花婿役を演じていたからです。
そして自分は、学生であることを忘れて、単純にただの映画ファンになってしまいました。彼らの写真を撮り、サインをもらいました。
これはロスに引っ越してきてから最もエキサイティングなできごとであると同時にこの学校を選んでよかったと再認識させられました。
今後もこういった素晴らしいイベントがあることを祈りたいものです。
