LACCでの授業 1 |
This time, I'll introduce my classes of my school Los Angeles City College(LACC). The reason I came to USA is studying cinema, I chose this school because this LACC is a famous about film production to some extent, and cheaper than well-known university like UCLA or USC.
This semester I'm taking 15.5 units with 5 classes (cinema1 through cinema4 and Speech72, each 3 units) and correction for 0.5 units. The differences from my university in Japan are that 1 class has 3 units (Japanese univ. has 2 units (for lecture) or 1.5 units (for laboratory work)), that only one class per day (Japanese univ. has 4 classes a day at maximum), and that one class lasts for 3.5 to 4 hours (Japanese univ. lasts 1.5 hours).
The organization of the lecture and the attitude of the students for class are quite different from Japanese one (there is no system that somebody reply for attendance for somebody absence and and there is no atmosphere to be able to cheating). I'll tell you each class in detail.

今日は、自分が通っているLos Angeles City College(LACC)の授業を紹介したいと思います。そもそもアメリカに来た理由は映画を勉強するために来たわけですが、このLACCは映画制作に関してはある程度有名な学校で、UCLAやUSCといった映画制作の有名校に比べると学費も安いという理由で選びました。
今期はCinema1〜Cinema4の4コマとSpeech72という1コマの計5コマ(各3単位)、そして添削用の0.5単位の合計15.5単位を取っています。自分の通っていた日本の大学(名大)と違うのは1コマが3単位(名大の場合は講義2単位、実験1.5単位)だということ、1日につき授業が1コマしかない(名大では日によっては1限〜4限までフルに埋まっていた)ということ、そして1コマの時間が3時間半〜4時間強かかる(名大は1コマ1時間半)ということだろうか？
もちろん、授業の形式や生徒の取り組み姿勢などはまったくことなる(日本のように代返などという便利なシステムはないし、無論カンニングがまかり通るような雰囲気もない・・・)ので、1つ1つの内容を掘り下げていきます。
