始まりの場所 =part5= |
Although it was really long introduction, I went to Riverside where is my "starting point" to say last good bye.
Looking back my friends, there are people who shared same three months, there are also people who came to UCR in turn I went out. There are teenager while there are people who are in their 20s. There are still UCR student while some students go to another school.
Above all, there is a Japanese who was riding on "starting bus". The first phrase we had in the bus was the promise that we were both Japanese but never use Japanese because we came here to study English." The promise is almost invalid now,however, I felt our friendship will last through our lives with no reason on this last visit to Riverside.
I'd like to finish this time even though it became rambling style.

前置きが非常に長くなってしまいましたが、今週末は自分にとっての"始まりの場所"であるリバーサイドに、最後のお別れを言いに行ってきました。
お別れを言った友人たちを振り返ってみると、同じ3ヶ月間を共有した人もいれば、自分と入れ替わりでUCRに入ってきたメンバーもいる。10代の人もいれば、20代の人もいる。まだUCRに在籍している人もいれば、別の学校に移っていった人もいる。
そして何より、"始まりのバス"に乗っていた日本人がいる。そのバスの中で、最初に交わした言葉は日本語ではなく、英語で・・・、しかも「俺たち日本人同士だけど、英語を勉強しにきたんだから、日本語は使わないで行こうぜ」という約束だった。その約束はもうほとんど無効になってしまったけど、二人の間にある友情はこの先もずっと続いていくものなんだろうな？とわけもなく感じた最後のリバーサイドでした。
取り留めのない文章になってしまいましたが、今回はこの辺りで終わりたいと思います。
