2006年W杯アジア最終予選
The most exciting event happened yesterday. It was preliminaries final round in Asia for World Cup 2006: Germany. Our national team won the match overcoming North Korea, which means getting ticket to Germany. This is third participation in success. This time, I couldn't feel excitement so much comparing with past preliminaries.
1993: I cried for the tragedy (In Japan, peole call this as "Tragedy in Doha"), when I was a junior high school student.
1997: I cried for the joy (In Japan, people call this as "Joy in Johore Bahru"), when I was an university student.
However, this time I never cry, rather, I didn't feel excitement so much. I think there are some reasons for this. First, I didn't see other games of this preliminaries before I saw the game that led Japan to Germany. Second, There was no dramatic elements in the game that Japan had supremacy of 1 goal over North Korea 10 minute to the end of the game under the situation as Japan could go to Germany even if they tied.
Whichever it was, however excitement was not so much, I was really glad to see Japan won the game and get the ticket to Germany. I also want to go to Germany next year. Therefore, there is no problem.
Japan shows stable strength in current 10 some years over Asia as neighbor Korea does same thing. It means that "no excitement = Japan is strong", doesn't it?
Whatever it is, I think this fact that I was in Japan on this historical moment has much meaning than I celebrate my first anniversary of my one year staying in USA.
Toward June 9th next year, all the Japan, and all the world will get much excited. I also want to enhance this soccer fever for World Cup 2006, and I wish I'll be there on next June.
