Next, I went to Hoshigaoka Terrace. This opened before I left. This was my first visit here, and I thought it was not good.

Next I went to my university, Nagoya University (We call "Meidai"). The subway station that had been supposed to open at my 4th grade finally opened after my graduation, which makes it more convenient (This is the only belt-line subway in Japan). To think about me, this is my first visit after my graduation. I found almost all the school buildings were remodeled and new buildings were built, which make me think what could make this possible in just 4 years since I graduated from university. However, my shool building didn't changed at all. I got angry little bit thinking why only our building stayed same. On the other hand, I felt sentimantal feeling seeing same building.

I noticed it when I was about to get on the subway. There were not only Japanese on the signpost but 5 languages including English and Korean. This was the moment I felt the impact of EXPO and KAN-RYU(Korean Culture Power). The announcement in the subway was also done by Japanese, English, and Korean.

続いて訪れたのが、星ヶ丘テラス。これも渡米前からあったのだが、実際に訪れたのははじめてだったのだが、ここはかなりしょぼかった。

次に訪れたのが、母校名大。大学入学当初、自分が4年生の時に完成するはずだった地下鉄「名古屋大学駅」が卒業後に開業し、便利になった。(今は日本で唯一の地下鉄環状線となっている)考えてみると、卒業後初めて訪れたのだが、各学部の校舎が改装されたり、新築されており、昔の面影はほとんど消えていた。卒業してから4年ちょっとしか経っていない間にここまで変わるものなのか？と驚かされた。だが、自分の学部の校舎に行ってみると、相変わらずのおんぼろ校舎のままで、何故自分達の学部だけ改装されていないのか？と少し腹立たしく感じたりもしたが、校舎の中を歩いてみて、昔と変わらないその面影に懐かしく思った。

名大から地下鉄に乗ろうとした時に気付いたのだが、駅の案内標識が日本語だけでなく、英語、韓国語を含めた5ヶ国語で表記されていて、万博の影響だけでなく、韓流の影響(違うか？)を実感した瞬間であった。(地下鉄の車内アナウンスも日本語、英語、韓国語となっていた・・・)
