I went to the premiere of "Two for the Money" that I saw the other day. This was my first experience that I went to premiere that I'd seen before although I'd been to premiere many times.

I expected that I could recognize the person who was taken photos with a lot of flashlights, however, I wondered who this is, who that is, and who it is.
The only persons I could tell were two leading actors, Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey. I couldn't tell even supporting actress, Rene Russo.

(I remember that I asked one question to my frined when I was in Japan. "Do you know Al Pacino?" The answer was "Is it a kind of cappuccino?" Does he still think it cappucino?)

I can tell if star arrive or not looking from far distance, or looking at the other side of the road that star is on. I mean, the amount of flashlights tells me how famous the star is.
For example, the volume of flashlights comes to "5" or "6" on supporting actors/actresses, compared with "10" on leading actor/actress.

I wish I can produce the movie with the "10" flashlights star, and I'll be taken photos with "10" flashlights someday!!(Ofcourse as a director...)

先日試写会で見た「Two for the Money」のプレミアに行ってきました。今までに何度かプレミアには行った事があるものの、既に見たことのある作品のプレミアというのは今回が初めての経験でした。

事前に映画を見ているので、今までのようにカメラマンがフラッシュ焚いてるけど、この人誰？というようなことは、今回はないだろうと思っていたのですが、何のことはなく、あの人誰？この人誰？その人誰？の連発でした。
実際に、見分けがついたのは主役の二人、アル・パチーノとマシュー・マコノヒーのみでした。助演女優であるレネ・ルッソですら見分けることができませんでした・・・(苦笑)。

しかし、大スターが到着したかどうかというのは、遠目に見ても、極論を言えば、スターの立っているのとは反対側の道路を見ていれば、わかります。どういうことかというと、カメラマンたちのフラッシュの量でそのスターの知名度がわかるからです。
たとえば、主役クラスがフラッシュ量"10"とすると、脇役は"6"だったり、"5"だったりといった感じです。

自分もいつか"10"のフラッシュを浴びるような俳優を使って、映画を作り、"10"のフラッシュを浴びてみたいものです(もちろん、監督として・・・)。

そういえば、自分がまだ日本にいた時に、「アル・パチーノって、知ってる？」と聞いたら「なにそれ？カプチーノの一種？」と答えた友人がいましたが、彼は今でもそう思っているのだろうか？
