England got a ticket to final stage following Germany and Ecuador today. But the content of the game was so-so.

England has world-class mid-fielders, so they can control mid-field but there is no one who can divide a critical pass to forward. If there is, it is Beckham but his position is right side and then it'll be cross-ball from right side. But only 1 pattern, cross-ball from right side, is not enough to fight with strong countries. (Crouch got a goal with the heading shoot, but he is just a tall but he is poor as a forward. As a proof, he missed easy ball from Beckham 1st half.)
They have only one tactics that they will send pass aim to tall Crouch. I don't deny that long shoot from middle-range is one of the weapon of England. But if they could prepare for smooth pass-work at mid-field and send last pass to world-class striker Owen, it can be the final weapon.

昨日のドイツ、エクアドルに続き、イングランドが今日決勝トーナメント進出を決めた。がしかし、試合内容そのものはまだまだ物足りない内容だった。
試合のハイライト (イングランド vs トリニダードトバコ)
中盤は世界屈指のタレントをそろえているだけあって、支配はするのだが、フォワードへの決定的パスを出すゲームメーカー的な選手がいない。いるとすればベッカムなのだが、ベッカムの場合、どうしても右サイドからのクロス(これはこれで十分な戦力だが・・・)に偏ってしまい、強豪国相手に右クロスの1パターンだけではこの先戦えない。(今日はクラウチのヘディングから得点したが、クラウチもただ背が高いだけで、フォワードとしての力量は疑問を覚えざるを得ない。前半ベッカムからフリーで受けたボールをダイレクト・ボレーで枠を大きく外した時は、思わず苦笑してしまった・・・。)
第1戦同様、長身のクラウチに放り込むだけで、中盤から崩して、世界的FWオーウェンの足元へパスを通すといった戦術が見られない。とはいえ、中盤からのロングシュートはイングランドの武器であることは否定しない。さらに上記の戦術が備われば怖いものなしだという意味での提言である。
