And another game that would decide opposite team against Germany at quarter-final was between Argentina, 1st place in group C, and Mexico, 2nd place in group D. Mexico put a good fight upsetting general expectation.

From the beginning unexpected thing happened. Mexico overwhelmed Argentina. They got a goal in 4 minute!! Argentina followed up soon but Mexico fought with Argentina more than even and I thought Argentina might lose.
In 2nd half, Argentina had back their true power and they controled the game but they couldn't get an additional goal. From the middle of 2nd half, Mexico attacked Argentina again as if they recovered their movement in 1st half. Both teams couldn't get a goal and game went into extra time.

First half of extra, Argentine Rodriguez's tremendous shoot shook the goal-net, which decided the game and Argentina became the winner to go to best 8.
Game's Highlight (Argentina vs Mexico)

Therefore, the great match between Germany and Argentina came true in quarter-final. This can be said as final virtually as long as I saw the games of all the teams so far.
I don't know which one will win. Argentina is much more than Germany in the number of talents. Germany has advantage of host country and world-class players such as Klose and Lahm are growing.
Personally, I wish that Germany win the game.

そして今日のもう1試合。この試合の勝者がドイツと対戦することになる試合。C組1位のアルゼンチン vs D組2位のメキシコ。大方の予想を覆し、メキシコが善戦する。

開始から予想外の展開が繰り広げられる。メキシコがアルゼンチンを圧倒したのだ。そして4分、メキシコが先制！！アルゼンチンはすぐさま同点に追いつくが、その後もメキシコが互角以上に戦い、ひょっとして、アルゼンチン負ける？とすら思ってしまった。

しかし後半はアルゼンチンが本来の動きを取り戻し、ゲームをコントロールするものの、追加点を奪えない。後半途中から再びメキシコが前半の動きと取り戻したかのように、アルゼンチンを攻め立てる。両者とも追加点を奪えないまま、勝負は延長戦へ。
延長前半、アルゼンチン、ロドリゲスのすさまじいシュートがネットをゆすった。そしてこれが決勝点となり、アルゼンチンがベスト8進出を決めた。

これで準々決勝でドイツvsアルゼンチンという好カードが現実のものとなった。これまでの各チームの戦いを見る限り、事実上の決勝戦といっても過言ではない対戦だ。
どちらが勝つか？まったくもってわからない。タレントの数ではアルゼンチンのほうが数段上だが、地元開催という利点がドイツにはあるし、クローゼ、そしてラームという世界レベルのタレントが育ちつつもある。
個人的にはもちろんドイツに勝ってほしい。
