When it came to final stage, the win and loss might change the whole nation. For example, Germany is the one.

Just like the movies above, all the nation come to life already, and France also makes much ado beating Brazil yesterday. There were huge people gathering on Champs Elysees in Paris.
Vice versa, when team lost, all the nation disapponited. Horsing such nations expectation, each team fight and they'll tear when they lose. England's players were all weeping on the groung after they lost in penalty shootout.
On the other hand, winning team runs up to their supporters to share the victory together. The scene that Germany who won over Argentina after PK, performed as if they were the bowling pins and they felt down, was the typical one to show their appliciations to their fans.
The win and loss of the national team will be the hope and despair of the nation. Therefore, soccer could be the one that is the most loved sport in the world.

さて、決勝トーナメントにもなると、その試合の勝ち負けが、その国のその日の気分を変えてしまう。例えば、ドイツ。

上の映像のようにすでに国中、総出で盛り上がっているし、フランスも昨日ブラジルを破ったことで、優勝したかのような大騒ぎでパリのシャンゼリゼ通りにはこれでもかというくらいの人があふれた。
逆に負けてしまった国は国中が凹む。そんな国の期待を背負って戦ったからこそ、負けた時に涙が出る。PKで負けてしまったイングランドの選手たちは皆、グランドの上で一様に目を腫らしていた。
その一方で勝ったチームは応援してくれたサポーターの元へと駆け寄り、サポーターと一緒に勝利を喜ぶ。アルゼンチンにPK勝ちしたドイツがボウリングのピンが倒れるパフォーマンスでサポーターに感謝を示していたシーンはその象徴的なものだ。
その国の代表チームの勝敗がその国の一喜一憂になる、だからこそサッカーというスポーツは世界中でもっとも愛されているスポーツになりえたのだろう。
残り4試合、自分もドイツ代表と共にサッカーに一喜一憂していきたいと思います。
