On the other hand, Italy took 12 goals with 10 players in this tournament. There was no absolute player, so they made it in a body. It was the victory beside of the doubt on Italian Soccer League, and it was also the 4th championship going over Germany 3-times, following Brazil 5-times. So the players made a huge fuss over the awarding ceremony.

There was an event for cutting Camoranesi's hair who declared "I will cut my hair when we win". After that, they did a kiss to that golden cup. Looking at this scene, I, soccer-man, was impressed, and imagining if this were German players... made me much more impressed.

Many celebrities came to see the game to the stadium, and there were French president Chirac and ex-USA president Klinton today. There were other celebrities who watched this game on TV.

TV said that 1 billion people watching the final all over the world. I thought that soccer is the only sport played world-wide inspite of nation, religion, and race. In fact, there are 207 countries on FIFA signatory while 191 on UN.

1st African World Cup in the history will be held 4 years later in South Africa. I'm really looking forward to seeing what impression will hit me.

一方、イタリアは今大会12得点を10人の選手で取っており、絶対的な選手がいるわけではなく、チーム一丸となって悲願を達成した感じだ。しかもイタリア国内リーグが不正で揺れていた状況でのW杯優勝。そしてドイツの3回を抜き、ブラジルの5回につぐ、単独2位の4回目の優勝ということもあり、授賞式での選手の騒ぎ方はすごかった。
試合前に「勝ったら、髪を切る」といったカモラネージの断髪式も行われ、そしてあの黄金の優勝カップに1人1人がキスをしていった。そのシーンを見ているだけで、サッカー好きな自分としてはかなりの感動だったが、これがドイツの選手だったら、どれほどの感動を味わえたのだろう？と考えると、さらに胸が奮えた。

ところで、毎試合セレブな人たちが観戦していたが、この決勝戦はフランスのシラク大統領とクリントン元アメリカ大統領が来ていた。会場に来れなくてもTVの前で見ているセレブもたくさんいたはずだ。
この決勝戦だけで、世界中で10億人が見ているとTVで言っていた。やはりサッカーは、国、宗教、人種などに関係なく、世界中のどこでも行われている唯一のスポーツだと実感させられた。実際、国連加盟国が191なのに対し、FIFA加盟国は207となっている。

4年後は史上初のアフリカ大陸での開催が決まっており、開催国は南アフリカ共和国。はたして4年後はどんな感動が味わえるのか？今から楽しみだ！！
