Next theme is the best game.
This was for the first time in my life that I watched all 64 games, and this might be the last time. It is really hard to choose only 1 best game.
For example, the opening game "Germany vs Costa Rica" scored 6 goals in total, and also 6 goals scoring game "Argentina vs Serbia and Montenegro" were exciting games, but it was exciting just because of many goals and it is not the "best" in term of soccer.
Vice versa, games in 0-0 are also not the "best". Because soccer is the sport to compete scoring each other. Even though both teams showed great defense, it is not exciting that both teams focused on only defense.

Judging from such point, the best game in this World Cup is "Germany vs Argentina" in quarter-final.
Both teams were the most favorite teams after group league over, and they were also the top-score teams. The game itself was like this; they changed offense and defense throughout the game, and game continued to the PK in 1-1.
The Argentine goal was born from set-play while German goal was born from the current in the game. We could see Argentina saved time in the way of too much. Germany showed teamwork that sub-GK Kahn cheered Lehmann who was in the game. We also saw the nerves on PK and the battle for nation's prestiges. We could see the game that included every factors in soccer.

そして今大会のベスト･マッチ。
生まれて初めて全64試合を観戦したわけだが(おそらく生涯で最初で最後になるであろう)、その中から最高の試合を選ぶのは非常に難しい。
例えば、両チーム合計6点が入った今大会の開幕戦"ドイツvsコスタリカ"、同じく6点入ったものの一方的であった"アルゼンチンvsセルビアモンテネグロ"といった大量得点の入った試合は見ていて面白いものだったが、それはあくまでも点がたくさん入るから面白いのであり、サッカーの面白さという点においては、"ベスト"ではない。
逆に0-0の試合というのも、"ベスト"ではない。サッカーというのは、やはり得点を取り合うスポーツだからだ。いくら両チームが素晴らしいディフェンスを見せても、両チームともが守備だけに専念してしまっては、面白くもなんともない。

そういった観点で選んだ今大会のベスト･マッチは準々決勝の"ドイツvsアルゼンチン"の試合。
両チームともグループ･リーグを終えた時点で優勝候補の最右翼であり、かつ得点のもっとも多いチームでもあった。試合そのものも両チームが前後半で攻守が切り替わり、1-1のまま延長、そしてPKという試合。
得点もアルゼンチンはセット･プレーから、そしてドイツが流れの中からの得点。またアルゼンチンの露骨なまでの時間稼ぎ、あるいはドイツの控えGKのカーンがレーマンを励ますといったチームワーク。そしてPK戦、国の威信をかけた戦いにおける緊迫感といった、サッカーにおけるすべての要素が詰まった試合だったと言える。
