The other day, there was a forest fire in Hollywood and it kept burning all day long. On that day, I and Mr. Kichitaro Negishi, who came to US from Japan to promote his film "What the Snow Brings" which will be released all over the US and this is my current job, had a press junket all day long. We kept watching the fire.
The result of this press junket will be seen not only in Los Angeles but in Japan also such as Nihon Keizai Shimbun and some TV in Hokkaido where is the main location in the movie.
And my task is not only this movie but I have anoter task, I mean, another film at the same time.
That is the film "Memories of Tomorrow" starring Ken Watanabe, who was once nominated for Oscar and the most famous Japanese and most famouse Asian actor.
This one also had a special screening and press junket in New York last week. Then, it was soon picked up in Japan such as TV news, newspapers, and Internet.
The opening date of these two films is coming close and we invited a director from Japan and Ken Watanabe was picked up in some media, which all makes me feel what I did.
That what I did comes back to me as a recognizable result is really fresh and pleasant for me because I couldn never experience when I worked for IBM.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how far this project will go and what result will be born.

先日ハリウッドで山火事が発生して、朝から晩までずっと燃えてました。その日自分は、日本から、「探偵物語」の監督であり、今、自分が担当している佐藤浩市主演映画「雪に願うこと」の全米公開に向けたPRのために招待した映画監督の根岸吉太郎さんと一緒に、朝から晩までメディアのインタビューをずっとしていて、監督と一緒に、ずっとその山火事を見ていました。
今回のインタビューの結果は、ロサンゼルスだけでなく、日本経済新聞に掲載されたり、映画の舞台でもある北海道のTVで放送されたりといった感じで、日本でも流れるようです。
そして自分が担当している今回の仕事は「雪に願うこと」の全米公開だけではない。もう1つというか、もう1本別の映画も同時進行している。
その作品とは、アメリカのアカデミー賞ノミネート経験を持つ、今ハリウッドで最も有名な日本人、いやもっとも有名なアジア人俳優、渡辺謙主演映画「明日の記憶」。
こちらも先週、ニューヨークでメディア向けのインタビューと特別試写会を行い、早速日本でもTVでニュースになったり、スポーツ新聞の一面を飾ったり、ネット上でも話題になったようです。
今年の1月からずっと準備していたこの2作品の劇場公開が間近に迫り、日本から監督が来たり、渡辺謙のアメリカ公開が記事になったり、最近この仕事の成果が見えるようになってきて、実感がわいてます。
自分が仕切ってきたプロジェクトが目に見える形で帰ってくるというのは、IBM時代は経験できないことだったので、とても新鮮かつ嬉しい。
今後、このプロジェクトが一体どこまで続いていくのか、そしてどのような結果を残すのか？非常に楽しみです。
