トラブル続きのNY -part1- |
I went to bussiness trip to NY at the beginning of this month.
It was my second visit to NY in 8 years. I could see a lot of changes; there were air conditioner in submway even thought platform itself was still a kind of sweating bath and it became cleaner than it had been 8 years before. Also it was right before MLB All Star game and there were a lot of promotions all over NY.
It was a little bit dissapointing that the signboard of Coke became electric board. I prefer old one that straw comes out opening the top because of its typical style.
I also climped up one of the skyscrapers and looked down Manhattan from its top.
I went to various places. The site of World Trade Center, Ground Zero, was especially heavy for me. I went up the building one year before 9/11 and I had some memories there, so it made me sentimental this time.
Also when it comes to travel, it's usual something trouble happens.

今月上旬、仕事でNYに行ってきました。
8年ぶりのNYでしたが、地下鉄の車両にはクーラーが付き(ホームは相変わらず、蒸し風呂でしたが・・・)、街も綺麗になり、MLBのオールスター前ってことで、街中のいたるところで、そのプロモーションが行われ、いろいろと変わってました。
タイムズスクエアのコカ・コーラの看板が電光掲示板に変わっていたのが、ちょっとショックでした。昔のコーラの瓶の蓋が開いて、ストローが出てくるタイプの方が趣があって、好きです。
あと、普通の人は入ることのできない高層ビルの最上階からマンハッタンを見下ろしてきたりもしました。
いろいろなところに行きましたが、やはりWTCのツインタワー跡地、グランドゼロは重かったです。あの911の前年に屋上に登ったこともあり、いろいろと思い出の詰まった場所でもあり、ちょっと切なくなりました。
そして旅と言えば、トラブル!!ってことで、今回もいろいろとトラブルが多発し、大変でした。
