WBC 09 決勝 |
WBC Final game was between Japan and Korea for the 5th time in this tournament. The final gathered the largest number of the audience more than 50,000 because of the location, Los Angeles where a lot of Japanese and Korean live. However there were some vacant seats at the stadium. Actually, there are many Americans who don't know this event, WBC.
This is the event to decide the world champion and it's the American pastime, baseball but people don't pay attention so much. Why don't they show any interests?
It doesn't matter for Japanese community in LA and a lot of them went to Dodger Stadium. I don't know where they are hiding usually!?
The game was really exciting. Japan was caught up at the bottom of 9th inning but Ichiro got a two-run double at the top of 10th. Darvish closed the game and Japan won two consecutive championship.
If Darvish closed the game at 9th, Ichiro's plate never came and he made RBI on that chance.
He also stole the third base right after the hit. He was excellent.
He said on the interview after the game;
"I have something. God blessed me."
The phrase came up on my mind that all the Japanese had same idea.
"You are the God!"
His slump at this WBC was just like choreograph to make this last moment, wasn't it? It was super! Actually he scored 4 for 6.
Personally his foul ball on 5th pitch on the 10th inning, might be the most exciting scene. It was a ball count if he passed and almost one bound but he made it foul. His skill was a kind of act of God.
Besides, he has some luck that his plate came at such moment and he also has some power to make it happen. It was a kind of textbook game to show how the superstar should be.

翌日の昨日、決勝は今大会5度目の日韓戦。さすがに決勝、しかも日本人も韓国人も多いロサンゼルスってことで、大会史上最多の5万人を超える観客を集めたが、やはり客席には空席が目立つ。実際、アメリカ人でWBCの存在を知らない人は結構多い。
世界一を決める大会が行われている、しかもそれがアメリカが誇るベースボールの大会だというのに、この関心の低さは一体何でしょう？
そんなことはどこ吹く風、LAの日系コミュニティーは大盛り上がりで、普段一体どこに隠れているんだってくらい大勢の日本人がスタジアムに終結。
試合は9回裏に同点に追いつかれ、延長10回の表にイチローのタイムリーで決勝点！最後はダルビッシュが抑えて、日本の大会2連覇が決定するというなんとも劇的な幕切れ。
9回裏、ダルビッシュが抑えていれば、まわってこなかったはずのイチロー。そしてその回ってきたチャンスを見事ものにした決勝タイムリー。
そしてその直後に、すかさず盗塁を決めるあたりもさすがである。
そしてイチローの試合後のインタビュー。
「僕は持っていますねえ。最後に神が舞い降りてきましたね。」
日本国民みんなが思っているであろう言葉が頭を横切る。
「神様はあなたです！」
今大会の不振が全て、最後の最後のこの一打を引き立たせるための演出だったのではないだろうか？というくらいに見事な決勝打だった。(実際、決勝戦は6打数4安打)
個人的にはこの10回表のイチローの打席の5球目のファールはしびれました。2ストライクで見送ればボールのあわやワンバンのボールをファールにする技術はまさに"神業"。
しかも、こういう場面で打席が回ってくるという運を"持っていて"、それを結果に残す実力を"持っている"。これぞまさにスーパースターです！というお手本のような今回の決勝戦でした。
