今後のWBCに向けて |
WBC is the event to decide the world champion of baseball but there seems a lot of problems. One is the way of tournament which is told that the system affords an advantage to US national team such as double elimination system and the matching system that Japan and Korea player 5 times. Another is the low visibility of the existence of WBC.
The organization who runs this event seems to be Major League Baseball and it can't be helped that the event affords an advantage to USA. There is a good example for this. FIFA for World Cup Soccer is the one. This is the international organization and they governize the event very well. Unless they don't organize a kind of baseball FIFA, nothing can't be changed ever.
So I hope there will be baseball FIFA next time and have a good operation of the event.
Whatever, congratulations on winning championship again!
I also expect Japan national soccer team for next year, World Cup Soccer 2010.

さて野球の世界一を決める大会のWBCですが、母国アメリカに有利と言われる大会方式(2回負けない限り上にいける仕組みとか、同じアジアの日本と韓国が5度も戦ってしまう組み合わせとか)、また開催地であり、発祥の地であるはずのアメリカでの認知度の低さなど、問題だらけのようです。
どうやら大会の運営がアメリカのメジャー・リーグらしく、そりゃ、アメリカ有利な大会運営方式になるのも仕方ない。サッカーのW杯におけるFIFAのような国際組織を作って、そこが運営するような形式にしていかないと今後もずっとアメリカ有利な大会になるだろうし、開催地もいつまでもアメリカのままな気がしないでもない。
ってことで、次回大会からは野球版FIFAを組織して、そこに運営を任せて欲しいと心から思います。
何はともあれ、WBC大会2連覇おめでとうございます！
来年のW杯、サッカー日本代表も期待してます！
