Waking up at 9am and walked around the hotel. John Hancock Tower, the tallest building in New England area (however they closed public climbing aftet 9/11) while visited traditional masonry building such as church and library, which reminded me the feeling last night.

I walked up freedom trail, which traces the genesis of USA, leaving State House at 10am. State House is supposed to open at 10am but they didn't somehow, probably because of next day of Christmas... next destination, burying ground was also closed. Buying pins at Hard Rock Cafe on the way, it was 1 hour walking to cover 1/3 of the entire trail and took lunch at the restaurant where one of my friend recommended and also JFK loved.
I ordered Clam Chowder. I expected the one in the bread bowl as San Francisco but it was just normal bowl. However that was much cleamy than San Francisco and tasty.

After the lunch, I across the bridge over Charles River and visited Navy Yard where sail boat and iron navy ship anchored. I could see wonderful view of downtown over the sail boat.
I arrived at the final destination, Bunker Hill at 2pm. I climed up 294 steps and had another wonderful view from the top of the monument tower. It was 4 hours walking of the trail. I took a ferry to return to downtown and enjoyed water travel of port town, Boston.

Then I roamed around waterfront area and went back to North End, Italian living area for dinner. The restaurant was Daily Catch, making prpocessional, famous because of serving pasta on pans not dishes.

I doubt it was just pain for them to put it on dishes but it was wonderful taste.

It was too early to go back to the hotel(sunset at 4pm...), so I went to take photos to the State House area and also enjoyed window-shopping at the shipping mall close to the hotel.

9時起床で、ホテル周辺を散策。ニューイングランド地方で最も高いジョン・ハンクコック・タワー(テロ以降、登れなくなってしまった・・・)という近代的な建物を見る一方でや教会、図書館など伝統的な石造建築を見て、再び昨日の気持ちが蘇る。

10時に州議事堂を出発して、フリーダム・トレイルと呼ばれるボストンの、いやアメリカ創世記の史跡を巡るトレイルを歩いた。州議事堂は10時からオープンのはずだったが、クリスマス翌日のためか、開いていない・・・。次の目的地であるお墓も開いていない・・・。途中HRCでピンを買ったりしながら、トレイルの1/3くらいまでを1時間で歩いて、ちょっと前にボストンに留学していた友人お勧めで、大統領のJFKも通っていたと言われるレストランで昼食。

ボストン名物のクラム・チャウダーを頼む。もう1つの名物となっているサンフランシスコのようにパンをくりぬいたものに盛られて出てくるのか？と思っていたら、普通にお皿だった・・・。が、サンフランシスコのそれよりクリーミーで味は美味しい。
昼食を済ませ、下がスケスケの状態の橋を使ってチャールズ川を渡り、ダウンタウンの北にある帆船と近代的な軍艦が並ぶネイビー・ヤードを訪ねた。ここからは帆船越しにダウンタウンの高層ビル群が見える。

そして終着点となるバンカーヒルに到着したのが、14時。294段の階段を登り記念塔の頂上から見る景色、南と西にダウンタウン、北に風力発電、東に住宅街は素晴らしかった。トレイルは4kmを4時間かけての旅歩きとなった。帰りはフェリーで港町ボストンならではの水上の旅を楽しんだ。

その後はウォーターフロントと呼ばれる地域を散策し、夜は昼間に歩いたノースエンドと呼ばれるイタリア人街の有名店で夕食。Daily Catchという名前のレストランで、お皿ではなく、フライパンに盛られたパスタが有名な行列の出来る店と書いてあったが、本当に調理に使ったままのフライパンで出てきたので、ただ皿に盛るのが面倒なだけじゃないか？と思ったりもしたが、味は格別でした。

まだ時間が早かったので(16時には日が沈みかけている・・・)、州議事堂の夜景を撮りに戻り、その流れで最寄駅のショッピング・モールをプラっとしながら、近所の夜景撮影をしてホテルに戻った。
