I woked up 8:30am since I will go to far a bit.

The report I wrote as a team at the first language school in US was about witch trial. That happened in Salem where 30minutes far from Boston by train. I visited Salem. I guess no Japanese visit such place, however it's not too much to say that Salem is my origin... no, it's too much. Whatever, I went to Salem!

Salem locates coastal area, whole town is withing 1 hour walking distance. Also it has a red line over the side walk as well as Boston. It is called Heritage Trail which can lead us to the major spots.
First, Witch Dungeon Museum... it is also closed as well as yesterday's State House. Second, Witch House... this is also closed again... What the heck! Following the trail, it brings me to the seashore. There is a small lighthouse but it is shorter than mountains around and I doubt this works as lighthouse... but I kept walking.

The feature of the town, Witch Museum finally opens!!!

We saw the recurrence show (about 10 minutes) of Witch Trial at theater and entered 2nd room. There were 4 display and staff explained one by one (also 10 minutes) and no more room. That's all. It was really disappointing.

Then I have nothing to do at 1pm, I came back to the station to return Boston. It was typical station in American rural town, no station house, no attendant.

I could came back earlier than I expected, re-tried to the grave. Opened!! Also re-tried State House, could enter!! I visted State House of California, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona but this Massachusetts one holds some historical feeling. I mean not old but having a flavor.

I still had time, and I visited Japanese village intrdocued on the guide book. Well..., it's not a village, not a building..., but just a floor. Outside was dark already when I got out. I went to the next station, Harvard station, where I supposed to visit and I found the movie theater that I've worked for a while by chance. Also I found a shop collecting Japanese figures. I wonder if Harvard has a lot of Otaku?

It's still before 7pm... I went to take photos of night illumination. It's really wonderful view with the water surface!!

Then I visited "No Name Restaurant" to have a dinner. This restaurant has a special menu, not clam chowder but fish chowder. It was also tasty.

こっちに来て最初に通っていた語学学校のチーム課題で作成したレポートは魔女裁判についてだった。その事件が起きたセーラムという町がボストンから30分ほど電車で揺られた場所にあるということでそこに行ってきたのだ。普通の日本人ならこんなマニアックな場所には多分行かないだろうが、個人的にはアメリカに来た最初の原点と言っても過言・・・過言だな、さすがに・・・。何はともあれ、行ってきた！

セーラムの町も海沿いにあり、普通に歩くだけなら1時間もあれば歩けるくらいの大きさ。そしてここもボストンと同じく歩道に赤いインクが塗ってあり、ヘリテイジ・トレイルとなっていて、そこを辿れば大体の見所を回れるようになっている。
しょっぱな魔女の地下牢博物館・・・昨日の州議事堂よろしく閉まっている。続いて魔女の家・・・これも閉まっている・・・。オイ、コラ！そのままトレイルに沿って歩いていると海に出る。小さな灯台(高さ3mくらい)があるが、周りの山よりも低いし、これ灯台の役目果たしているのか？なんて思いながら、歩き続ける。この町最大の目玉、魔女博物館・・・良かった、開いていた・・・。

入って直ぐのところにある劇場で蝋人形による魔女裁判の再現劇(10分くらい)を見た後、奥の部屋へ。そこには大きく分けて4つの展示がある。1つずつ係りが説明して(これも10分くらい)、その奥が・・・ない。うーん、正直がっかりだ・・・。

そんなこんなで13時過ぎにはやることがなくなってしまったので、ボストンへ戻るため駅へ。アメリカの田舎町の典型的な駅で、駅舎もなく、駅員もいない。

予想よりも早く戻ってこれたので、昨日開いてなかったお墓へ再トライ！開いてる！ 州議事堂も再トライ！入れる！今までカリフォルニア、ニューメキシコ、ユタ、アリゾナと州議事堂を見てきたが、東海岸ということもあり、歴史を感じさせる。古いと言うのではなく、味があるという感じ。

まだまだ時間があったので、ガイドブックに載っていた日本人村という場所に行ってみた。んー、村ではない・・・ビルでもない・・・日本人フロアくらいが適当だ。ビルを出ると真っ暗。その隣駅にあり、明日行く予定のハーバード駅にも行ってみた。今までに何度か仕事で関わってきた映画館(主に日本のアニメ映画)をたまたま発見！ハーバード大学から徒歩5分。その直ぐ側の雑居ビルに日本のフィギアなどを集めたお店も発見！ハーバード、アニメオタク多いのか！？

それでもまだ19時前・・・。今日も再び夜景撮影！やはり水面のある街の夜景は格別だ！

そして"名前のない"レストランで夕食。ここの名物はクラム・チャウダーならぬ、フィッシュ・チャウダー。これまた美味しかった。
