Waking up at 8am. Took a breakfast at B&B and visited parliament building. I joined 9:30am tour in English (there is French tour also), saw inside of the building. There was no liberty bell..., which is a symbol of US independence set in Philadelphia. There is a replica of this bell in every state capitol building in US. However it's the same state/province building but it's not in US but in Canada.
The tour last for 30 minutes and brought us to main floor on 1st floor, the entrance of a restaurant and stendglass on mezzanine, and two meeting room colored in blue & red on 3rd floor.

The restaurant is open to public not limited to assembly member, which reminded me of my high school days that Nagoya City Hal was also open to public for its restaurant. The guide, who was French looking beauty, explained for 2 colored room. Red one is only used for ceremony while blue one is always used for assembly.

After getting back to B&B and checking-out, I went to VIA railroad station. I ate sandwich at Subway as a lunch and entered into waiting room. There were a lot of Japanese people. Probably 20 Japanese, which was one third of entire people. All others except 4 including myself were from one tourist group.

Once the traing departed, it became clear sky as if rain by yesterday was a lie. The view with red leaves and blue sky from the train impressed me so much. I could see some scenes that only one house in red colored forest, which was really photogenic. There was a bridge that I imagined and got excited to go across but it went different direction at turnoff.
I could use Internet on the train, I finished some business emails and tried to watch some video but it was blocked due to its heavy size. However 3 hours train travel ended so fast during taking photos and looking beautiful scenary. Then we arrived at Montreal, the second destination of this travel.

It was a first time to check my baggage after long time, I worried about lost-baggage. Looking someone else pick-up his baggage who came later than me, made me feel some kind of regret. On the other hand, I thought it nostalgic to feel such emotion. At the end, I could pick up my bag in safe and got to the hotel via subway. The hotel located within 1 minute-walk from the station. Actually it is just above the station.

Trying to check-in but the receptionist could only speak French and I needed to communicate with gestures instead of speaking. I took a subway again to see Notre-Dame night show but there was no show on Monday. It was really bad luck on me including bad weather, bad weather and bad weather...
I decided to make Notre-Dame on Wedsnesday and walked around old city. It was quite different from Quebec City, there were no castle walls and no gate and it didn't hit me when it was told "old city". However I found the difference of new city and old city looking at masonry buildings and modern ones from the boardwalk along the seashore.

The most impressive one was the City Hall. Since Montreal is the second largest city in Canada, its gorgeousness was tremendous. I could enjoy night view of Paris in North America.

There was Chinatown of the closest station of Notre-Dam and the guide book introduce one restaurant of Wantang Noodle. I remembered the Wantang that I ate in Boston last year and it was so delicious and I expected same here and only Won-ton was good and noodle was not as Boston did.

After getting back to the hotel, my phone rang and it was from the company. Then I finished my job and checked tomorrow weather. It said cloudy and rainy after the day after tomorrow but occasionally sunny only tomorrow. So I booked rent-a-car and slept at 1am.

8時起きで、ホテルで朝食を済ませ、州議事堂へ。9時半の英語ツアーに参加し、内部を見学。当然といえば、当然だが、自由の鐘がない・・・。自由の鐘とはアメリカのフィラデルフィアにあるアメリカ独立のシンボルとも言える鐘で、各州議事堂には必ずレプリカが置いてある。しかしここは同じ州議事堂でもカナダ。英語だとアメリカはState Capitolだが、カナダはProvince Parliament。
ツアー自体は30分で1階のメインフロアー、中2階のレストランへの入り口とステンドグラス、そして3階から赤と青の2つの会議場を見学。

レストランは議員だけでなく、一般市民も利用できるらしく、高校時代に何度か利用した名古屋市役所の食堂を思い出した。赤と青の会議場だが、現在、赤は式典などで利用されるのみで、青が議会の行われる場所として使われているとどこかフランスの香りがする顔立ちの美人ガイドが教えてくれた。

ホテルに戻り、チェックアウトして、VIA鉄道駅へ。昼食にSUBWAYでサンドイッチを食べ、待合室へ。日本人率高い。全体の3分の1は日本人で、20人くらいいた。そのうち、自分を含めた4人以外は近畿ツーリストの団体だった。

列車が出発すると、昨日までの雨が嘘のように快晴！車窓から見える紅葉と青空に感動。時々紅葉に囲まれた森の中にポツンと一軒屋があるのが、とても絵になる。途中、この橋渡るのか！？めっちゃ楽しみと思っていたら、線路は分岐を別方向へ・・・。
列車内はインターネットが使えるので、仕事メールを少しして、動画でも見ようかと思ったら、動画はブロックされていた。ま、しかし車窓の外を眺めたり、写真を撮ったりしているうちにあっという間に3時間の旅は終わり、この旅の第2の都市モントリオールへ到着。

久しぶりに荷物をチェックインしたので、ちゃんと出てくるかドキドキしながら待つ。自分よりも後に来た人の荷物が先に出てくる時の悔しさたるや、あぁ〜こんなんあったな・・・、と久しぶりすぎてちょっと面白かった。無事荷物を受け取り、地下鉄を乗り継いでホテルへ。ホテルは駅を出て徒歩1分。ほぼ駅の真上にあった。
チェックインをしようとするが受付のおばちゃんがフランス語オンリーのため、これまた久々にジェスチャーで何とかチェックイン。再び地下鉄に乗り、旧市街へ。ノートルダム大聖堂の夜のショーを見るつもりだったが、月曜は休み・・・。天気と言い、天気と言い、天気と言い・・・なんか、今回の旅ついてないな。

ノートルダムは水曜に回して、旧市街を散策。ケベック・シティとは違い城門もなければ城壁もないので、旧市街と言われてもいまいちピンとこない。それでも海沿いの遊歩道を歩いていると石造建築と近代建築のの並びでなんとなく新旧の違いがわかった。
特に印象に残ったのが、市庁舎。さすがカナダ第2の都市だけあって、その豪華さは素晴らしい。北米のパリという名に相応しい夜景を堪能。

最寄駅の直ぐ側に中華街があり、地球の歩き方にワンタン麺の美味しい店として紹介されていた店、Restaurant Beijingに行った。昨年末にボストンで食べたワンタンが美味しかった(麺は除く・・・)こともあり、このお店も期待していたが、このお店もボストンと同じくワンタンのみが美味しかった。

ホテルに戻ると電話が鳴り、会社から仕事の依頼だったので、それを済ませる。明日の天気予報をチェックし、明後日以降は曇りか雨だったが、明日のみ曇り時々晴れとなっていたので、レンタカーを予約し、25時過ぎ就寝。
