UCRでの思い出 1 |
When looking back, these two and half months at Riverside, where was the countryside locating one hour drive from Los Angeles, were really deep.
First of all, UPP(University Preparation Program) was the wonderful program, although two of our classmates out of eight transfered to another school in the middle of the quarter. Our class started with eight students (six were from Korea, one from Nigeria, and one from Japan). As I digested 10-week program with the contents written in "My classes in UCR", I could have confidence. (Actually, classes at LACC are really tough for me because of existence of native speaker...)
Besides the program itself was brilliant, personalities of teachers and classmates also fit with me. In point of relationship, UPP was truely enjoyable everyday and UPP had class parties three times during this quarter. I wish I keep in touch with these classmates in the future.
Secondly, Conversation Program, I chose this as a training of English, comes to the position. The first partner was not so good and I asked to change him. After that, I could have marvelous partner as I wrote in "After-School Life", who made my English pronounciation improved. Only one regret that I couldn't see him on last day stays on me.

アメリカに来てからの2ヵ月半、リバーサイドというロスから1時間くらいの場所にある田舎町で過ごしたわけですが、振り返って見ると、かなり中身の濃い2ヵ月半でした。
まずは、ロスで大学に通うための事前準備ということで、取ったUPP(University Preparation Program：大学準備プログラム)ですが、最初6人の韓国人と1人のナイジェリア人、そして自分の計8人で始まったはずのコースも、途中で二人抜けて最後には6人という寂しいクラスになってしまいましたが、大学進学準備という名に恥じない素晴らしいプログラムでした。「UCRでの授業」で書いた内容を10週間こなしたことで、かなり自信がつきました。(とはいっても、LACCの授業は、やはりネイティブの学生に混じってということもあり、つらいですが・・・)
プログラムの内容そのものも素晴らしかったのですが、教師やクラスメイトのパーソナリティも自分にはフィットしていました。UPP内での人付き合いという意味では本当に楽しい毎日でしたし、2ヵ月半の間に3回もクラス・パーティーが開催されましたし・・・。このUPPのクラスメイトとは今後とも付き合っていきたいですね。
そして英語の訓練という意味でとったカンバーセーション・プログラム。最初のパートナーは正直、いまいちで変えてくれるように頼んだところ、次のパートナーがとても素晴らしい奴で、「放課後の生活」に書いたように教えてもらったおかげで、発音に関してはかなり改善されました。
最後の日に会えなかったのが、心残りではありますが・・・。
