On the other hand, there were 2 other games; France who were the champion in 1998 and South Korea who became 4th place in 2002.
France dissappeared without any victory and with no goals nevertheless they were thought as most favorite team. This time, France has great players that can aim at championship, such as Zidane who will be away from the pitch and one of the greatest striker in the world, Henry. However they tied with Switzerland scoreless tie.
Game's Highlight (France vs Switzerland)
They renewed their scoreless game record.
They proceeded their game with their pace but they missed some chance to get goals as Japan did. Besides, the judge missed the penalty by hand, they were abandoned by luck, too.
Vice versa, South Korea will be the the eye of the storm again. They were scored first goal by opponent and opponent took initiative at first but they won not only became tie.
Game's Highlight (Korea vs Togo)
This seems to be quite different from Japan. I can't remember the game that Japan turned the tables in a big game.
They also didn't featured Aian No.1 Player Paek Ji Sung but the others showed good performances.
Not only they won first victory as Asian team but they have a high possibility that they will be the first place in this group overcoming France as far as I saw today's game. I'd like to expect South Korea as a same Asian.

一方、98年大会の王者フランスと前回ベスト4の韓国がいるグループGの1試合目も行われたこの日。
前回2002年は優勝候補最右翼と言われながら、無得点、無勝利でグループ・リーグ敗退という屈辱を味わったフランス。今回は現役生活最後となるW杯ということで気合の入ったジダンを筆頭に、世界屈指のストライカー、アンリらをそろえ、メンバー的には優勝を狙えるチームだったが、スイス相手にスコアレス・ドロー。
試合のハイライト (フランス vs スイス)
前大会から続く無得点記録更新中のままだ。
試合内容も98年の王者の風格はなく、全体的に試合を押し気味に進めるも、日本同様決定力に欠けた。さらにPKとなったはずの相手のハンドも審判は見逃し、運にも見放されてしまった。
一方の韓国は前回の勢いそのままに、今大会も台風の目となりそうだ。というのも、前半は相手チームのペースで進み、先制されたのだが、そこから追いついただけでなく、勝ったからだ。
試合のハイライト (韓国 vs トーゴ)
この点は日本とは大きく異なるように思える。日本が大舞台で先制された後に逆転勝ちした試合というのは記憶がない。
しかもアジアNo.1プレーヤーとなったパク・チソンを中心に攻めたわけではなく、それ以外の選手が目立っていた。
アジア勢初勝利を飾っただけでなく、今日のフランスの試合を見る限りでは、フランスに勝ち、同組1位で予選を突破する可能性も高い。同じアジア人として、今後の試合も期待したい。
