Why did England lose?
Ofcourse it was due to the number problem of players resulted from Rooney's foul-out. I wondered if England's substitution was correct or not. Lennonn who was substituted for Beckham, showed great performance with smart dribble and he was the core of England but coach Eriksson changed him out in overtime nevertheless there were some players who had no more stamina. Besides, this sub player came in as a PK kicker but he was stopped his PK!! This substitution might raise a stink.

One more thing, the selection of forward was too less when they were chosen. After Owen got wounded, the choice of forward was limited to only Rooney and Crouch. Actually, there was one more player but he was the first time for national team and he didn't record great achievement in English Premiere League, which was told as Eriksson's dogma.

Rooney was the other one. The thing that I pointed out before happened, and Rooney fouled out with red card!! Beckham who was a great hope of England in World Cup 1998 fouled out with red card against Argentina, and the game went to penalty shootout just like this game and they lost. Then Beckham was criticized by all the English citizens. Will Rooney experience same thing?

さて、なぜイングランドは負けたのか？
ルーニーが退場し、人数的に不利になってしまったことはもちろんだが、イングランドの選手交替にはちょっと疑問を感じた。ベッカムの代わりに入ったレノンが切れの良いドリブルを見せ、イングランドの攻撃の基点となっていたのにも関わらず、延長に入り、変えてしまう。他にスタミナのなくなった選手がいたのにも関わらず、途中出場の選手を変えてしまったのだ。しかもPK要員として入れたはずのその選手がPKを外してしまった！！この采配はイングランド国内で物議を醸し出すかもしれない。
もう1つ言えば、FWがもともと少なかったという選出の時点での問題もある。オーウェンが負傷し、FWの選択肢がクラウチとルーニーのほぼ二人だけになってしまった点。実はもう1人いるにはいるのだが、代表初選出の選手で、プレミア・リーグでもそこまでの活躍をしたわけではないので、エリクソンの独断ということで、メディアに叩かれたこともある。

そしてなんといっても、ルーニー。以前指摘していたとおりのことが現実のものとなり、一発レッドでの退場！1998年大会で当時若手のホープだったベッカムが同じようにアルゼンチン戦でレッド・カードにより退場し、今回と同じくPK戦までもつれ、そして結果も同じく負けてしまい、ベッカムは国内で批判の的になった。ルーニーも同じように戦犯扱いされるのだろうか？
