2nd game was between Brazil who won championship 3 times and France who won once. This is the same match-up with final in World Cup 1998, and each team has 6 players who was in 1998.

Betraying most expectations, France took the initiative of the game. Brazil showed good performance but it was only right after the beginning. Then, it was one-sided game of France. They tied 1st half but France broke the balance and got 1st goal!! Brazil started to attack after this goal earnestly. They substituted Adriano and Robinho besides Ronaldo who was 1-top to make their offense thick but they couldn't break the French wall. Then game was over in 1-0.

Brazilian Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, and French Zidane, all of these 3 players was chosen for FIFA World Players of the Year, and Ronaldo and Zidane were team-mate in Real Madrid.
As for Brazil, this game was return match of the final in 1998 while as for France this will be the last game of Zidane if they lose.

Depressed Brazil 落ち込むブラジル

そして準々決勝最後の試合となった優勝経験3回のブラジルと1回のフランス。これは1998年大会の決勝戦と同じ組み合わせであり、しかも両チーム6人ずつ、合計12人の選手が1998年の決勝戦と同じメンバーである。

試合は大方の予想を裏切り、フランスが主導権を握る。開始直後こそ、良い攻めを見せたブラジルだったが、それ以降は一方的なフランス・ペース。前半は同点で終えたが、後半遂にフランスが均衡を破り、先制！！そこで火がついたブラジルは一転して、攻勢に出る。ロナウドの1トップだったところに、アドリアーノ、ロビーニョを投入し、攻撃陣を厚くするが、それでもフランスの壁を崩すことはできず、1-0のまま試合終了。

ブラジルのロナウド&ロナウジーニョとフランスのジダン。3人ともFIFA年間最優秀選手となった経験を持ち、ロナウドとジダンはレアル・マドリードではチームメート。
そしてブラジルとしては、98年大会の雪辱を期する試合。一方のフランスは負けたらジダンが引退という状況での試合。
