By the way, what will happen in USA while fireworks are symbol of Japanese summer? There are no big fireworks festivals in USA.
Besides, some states prohibit fireworks in private. California state where I live is the one of these states.
When Americans can see fireworks is mainly two times; Independence Day & New Year's Day. Each city shots fireworks competing against other cities during these two days.
People come to life because they can see fireworks rarely or because of their character.

Japanese fireworks are shot from one point for a long time, while American fireworks are shot from some points for a short time.
If I have to compare "Japanese fireworks" with "taste", "American fireworks" might become "power".
Which one would you prefer?

さて、日本の夏の代名詞ともいうべき花火ですが、アメリカではどうか？アメリカにおいては日本のように大々的な花火大会というものはありません(自分が知らないだけかもしれないが、アメリカでも比較的都会のロスでないのだから、他の都市でもないと思います)。

さらに個人的な花火というのも州によっては法律で禁止されています。私のいるカリフォルニア州もその一つです。
じゃぁ、いつ花火を見れるのか？というと、大きく分けて二つ。独立記念日とニュー・イヤーズ・デー(元旦)の二日。この二日間だけは各都市が競い合うかのように花火を打ち上げます。
そして一般市民も普段、めったに花火を見ることができないせいか、それとも国民的な性質のためか、これでもか！というくらいに盛り上がります。

日本の花火というのは一箇所から少しずつ長時間打ち上げ続けます。一方、アメリカは短時間に複数箇所から一斉に打ち上げます。
"日本の花火＝風情がある"とするなら、"アメリカの花火＝勢いがある"といった感じでしょうか？
